Leanne1989 please don't name her Brooke unless you want this discussion

jellybeans · 16/01/2009 15:52

Great names

bronze · 16/01/2009 16:00

Fook, what happens if you pronounce it Bruck?

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:01

It will hold no truck

Botbot · 16/01/2009 16:02

Brooke rhymes with fuck in my accent. As does book. And, indeed, duck.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/01/2009 16:03

dh who is from Nottingham sometimes pronounces book and butcher like 'buck' and 'buttcher'

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/01/2009 16:04

pmsl

I think you might want to reconsider Leanne!

And Reece just looks like you couldn't spell Rhys.

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:05

Reece's pieces, so nice for your nieces!

Hayao · 16/01/2009 16:05

Not in mine. No sirree.

Choose names you like and never ask anybody's opinion.

Botbot · 16/01/2009 16:07

Rhys is very nice though.

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:07

Laughing because my accent started life like botbots but has drifted south as I have, so this one's got me in a right pickle!

Sometimes it's barth, and some it's bath (like faff).

Very confusing for my DC's, who are similarly bi-accented

Botbot · 16/01/2009 16:15

I'm in the south too, desperately trying to hang onto vestiges of accent after 18 years!

dd gets confused - she says 'barth' when talking to (southern) dp and 'bath' when talking to me. And despite her having a south-east london accent, she still says 'Mummy' with a northern one.

FatController · 16/01/2009 16:18

Rhys is nice, Brooke less so IMHO. Brooke sounds "chavvy" (sorry to use that word, I know it is hated on these boards, sorry if any of you have little Brookes xx).

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 16:18

and are you bott bott, or bobo, a la francais?

Nancy66 · 16/01/2009 16:24

Don't like either. sorry

mum2b09 · 16/01/2009 16:28

i love rhys for a boy its in my list atm xxx

LoveMyLapTop · 16/01/2009 16:36

Brooke is horrible sounds really harsh
Reece should be spelt Rhys to make it OK

yellowflowers · 16/01/2009 19:25

I like Brooke - doesn't sound like fuck where I am from. It's pretty and a nature name

BabyBaby123 · 16/01/2009 19:31

not my cup of tea tbh....

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 19:58

I'm confused now, I definitely don't have an ey up me doook accent, but I think that duck and book rhyme.

Brooke rhymes with duck, as well as fuck imo.

but what the brooke do I know?!!

LynetteScavo · 16/01/2009 20:00

LadyLiffey - they don't rhyme - you must have a funny accent!

Are you very posh?

KristinaM · 16/01/2009 20:02

they dont rhyme where i coem from

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 20:06

I have a perfect accent.

ilovetochat · 16/01/2009 20:19

ladyliffey i totally agree with you, brooke rhymes with book, fuck and duck and truck.
i'm from the midlands so def not posh.

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 20:26

I'm from South Dublin and I speak the best English in the English-speaking World. I can confirm with equal certainty and modesty that Brooke and Fuck rhyme.
