I love Gabriel, but he will be called Gay for short - and probably not thank you for it!

Jacksmama · 08/01/2009 18:49

I shouldn't think so, I believe "Gabe" is more common... but not that nice either.
I still prefer Gabriel over Saul though.

kerryk · 08/01/2009 18:53

saul always reminds me of the creepy cult leader on home and away years ago.

shame really as i would prob love the name without that connection.

love leo though

Tatties · 08/01/2009 18:56

I love Gabriel

cilitbang · 08/01/2009 20:37

Saul is much cooler.....slightly biased cos my nephew is called Saul and I lurve him so much!
I've always though Gabriel is a bit poncey and may get shortened to 'Gay' (sorry)

MarchNowFebMum · 08/01/2009 22:28

Gabriel if you are ok with Gabe

girlandboy · 08/01/2009 22:34

Like both, but also slightly biased because my dh is a Saul.

But frankly he does have to repeat his name a lot, it rarely gets spelled correctly in Christmas cards etc.....eg....Sol, Sual, Sean etc, etc, etc.

He does end up saying "Saul, Saul......like Paul but with an s".

My mother assumed he was Jewish!

Numberthree - Obviously it depends what kind of music you like, but there's a brilliant song by Lamb called "Gabriel" - lovely lyrics and it inspired me to name my second Gabriel, only she's going to be a girl!

Shame (although glad to have a girl too obv!), have to have a c/s and would have been a lovely song to arrive to!

love, love, love Gabriel ... dp would never let me use it though if I had ds2!

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 19:47

I have a Gabriel

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 19:51

someone mentioned Seth? Silas is better.

smartiejake · 09/01/2009 19:56

I have a friend who has a DS called Gavriel which I think is unusual but rather nice.

lalalonglegs · 09/01/2009 20:50

Gabriel's are two a penny round here (along with Felix and Louis)and sounds slightly girly in my opinion. Saul is a great name, very strong and biblical (also happens to be dh's).

NormaJeanBaker · 09/01/2009 20:52

You could always convert Saul to Paul. Especially if you go to Damascus by road.

ScottishMummy · 09/01/2009 21:02

yes scope for U-turns on road to Damascus

xxhunnyxx · 09/01/2009 21:09

Neither, sorry.

IlanaK · 09/01/2009 21:16

I haven't read all the replies, but just wanted to say that we named ds3 Saul. He is now almost 6 months old and I don't regret it at all.

2pt4kids · 09/01/2009 21:19

Saul goes better with Leo imo

and who mentioned silas? isnt that some kind of sewage drainage thing???

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 22:25

you could be thinking of cattle feed - silage. which is why we didn't use it for DS1, living in a farming community. I have it on reserve for a future cat though

Lulubee · 09/01/2009 22:32

Love Gabriel, and think it goes better with Leo.
