I'm from S Wales too and I think I know how to pronounce my own name.

migolapland · 03/01/2009 22:40

Elin is pronounced Elle-in (with the 'i' of 'in' pronounced a bit like an Italian would say it)

and please don't call her Olwyn - it means wheel. should be olwen with an 'e'

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 03/01/2009 22:43

Wow, that sounded really arsey of me! I'm sorry Califrau, really didn't mean to be rude

I'm a Bethan. It mazes me how people can't get the stress right.

migolapland · 03/01/2009 22:52

dizzy to me Arwyn has always been a boy's name....?

llareggub · 03/01/2009 22:53

Another south Walian here.

I have a cousin called Bethan and we've always called her BethUN. Maybe you are saying the same thing only describing it differently?

I was nearly Angharad, which I love. I also like:

Alys
Arianwen
Eleri

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 23:04

maybe it is migolapland but seeing as DD3 is Dylan am probably not the right person to be giving advice on here

It's pronounced Alice.

FfreckleFfairyOnTopOfTheTree · 04/01/2009 01:12

Little Ff is Ffion, and Girldog is Seren. I loved Morgan and Teagan when we were trying to name the baby, but Bloke said no.

melz23 · 24/01/2009 16:56

My middle name is Cariad, after my mother which I understand means 'love' in Welsh and is a term of endearment

ADealingMummy · 25/01/2009 21:35

Tanwin

ADealingMummy · 25/01/2009 21:36

oh no sorry i think it's Tanwyn

lowrib · 26/01/2009 15:20

Siân
Lowri (Welsh version of Laura)
Cerys / Carys (means love)
