Love florence, Jemima, Eliza, Iris and Polly.

blinks · 31/12/2008 18:14

like Florence but prefer Flossie
Eliza is nice
the rest are a bit so so

girlandboy · 31/12/2008 18:18

Not keen on Edith and Iris. I really don't go for Dahlia I'm afraid.

But I like the rest

Anna8888 · 31/12/2008 18:22

I love Eliza and Constance. Jemima is also very pretty. I am not gone on the rest and particularly hate Violet ad Dahlia.

TheFallenMadonna · 31/12/2008 18:26

I like Eliza and Miriam.

janeite · 31/12/2008 18:31

Florence
Violet
Iris
Constance
Helena

All very nice.

Jemima - makes me think of Playschool sorry
Dahlia - really don't like
Miriam - don't like it but don't really know why
Eliza - ok
Polly - I like it but I think of Fawlty Towers
Edith - don't like it but I do like Edie.

I think out of all of your suggestions I like Violet and Helena the best.

morethanyoubargainfor · 31/12/2008 18:37

I totally agree with janeite, apart from i don't like helena or edith, but i do like meredith.

Florence, constance and violet are my favs.

janeite · 31/12/2008 18:40

Ooh yes: Meredith is beautiful!

Sesi · 31/12/2008 18:40

Florence, Violet, Dahlia, Miriam, Iris, Constance & Helena - all are nice.

Eliza ? So many people choose names beginning El at the moment ? I would pick something else.

Jemima & Polly ? Too cute, nice for babies or dolls but for a women I don?t think there great.

Edith ? It?s not very elegant imo.

Personally I like Violet and Iris. The right combination of grown up and feminine.

I like Meredith actually, but can I ask why people aren't liking Dahlia?

Florence, Jemima and Polly are my favourites.

In fact, dd1 has one of those names, and if I ever had a third dd, I'd use one of the others .

dinkymum · 31/12/2008 18:42

I love Jemima and violet. Jemima mostly. my fave girl name at the moment

FriendNeedsHelp · 31/12/2008 18:42

Dahlia makes me think of Jeeves & Wooster - Bertie's aunt.

dinkymum · 31/12/2008 18:44

I love Jemima and violet. Jemima mostly. my fave girl name at the moment

ScummyMummy · 31/12/2008 18:44

Florence- thumbs up
Jemima- neutral shading to no not really
Violet- neutral
Dahlia- no
Miriam- ok but makes me think of Stoppard
Eliza- really like
Iris- ok
Polly- ok
Constance- too formal for me
Edith- sounds ugly
Helena- not keen

Littlefish · 31/12/2008 18:45

Florence
Jemima
Eliza
Polly
Constance
Helena

How many syllables in your surname? What are your feelings on the shortened version of any of these names?

Flossie
Jemma
Lizzie
Connie

If you want a name that doesn't shorten easily, then Polly or Helena are the ones.

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 31/12/2008 18:46

I pretty much like all of those
Florence was on my list for dd2 but dh said it reminded him of florrie from the fimbles.

I'm sorry but they all sound too fuddy duddy and old fashioned for me. If I had to pick one it would be Polly and possibly Iris.
