I'm trying to come up with some traditional names that are recognisable, but not overused. I like anything with a slightly elegant, Regency or Victorian feel. What do you think of my ideas so far? Any other suggestions?

Henrietta
Georgiana
Charlotte
Lucinda
Beatrix
Flora
Jemima
Cecily
Alice
Cle mentine
Arabella

AtheneNoctua · 18/12/2008 17:12

I know loads of Sarahs.

Agree Tiffany is a no no. Reminds me of snobby eastern prep girl type... probably owned the "Preppy handbook" in the 80s.

But, what I am really really truly confused about is how in the world did CD's daughter get a godmother?!?! I mean doen't that involve going to church.

CountessDracula · 18/12/2008 17:22

She wasn't christened
it is a non-godmother in fact
we had a non-christening
Anyway she is a left-footer. She had to convert to marry her nobby aristo dh

jujumaman · 18/12/2008 17:27

Do you know loads of Sarahs under age of say 10, Athene? Maybe it's just a no-goer in my parts.

Tiffany is absolutely not on.

Bronze, excellent idea. All lovely names. Though it's just occurred to me that it was a bit odd of JA to name one of the leading characters in PandP afer herself. Don't you think?

AtheneNoctua · 18/12/2008 17:28

So, your project is ending. How fab. My job is ending. (YYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!)

We should go out for a drink before I leave sunny Brentford.

CountessDracula · 18/12/2008 17:29

Well it would be fab if I hadn't twattishly agreed to start a new one on 6 Jan grrrr

Yours is finishing
I had no idea
Where are you going?
Or is SAHMdom calling...

Yes we should

AtheneNoctua · 18/12/2008 17:29

No, not under 10. Now adults actually. I remember a lot when I was a kid especially (in the states).

jujumaman · 18/12/2008 17:31

That's what I was saying loads of adult Sarahs and Catherines, no children that I know of

Think they were done to death as names in 60s, 70s.

bronze · 18/12/2008 17:31

Juju you know I had never thought of that. And in P&P it was the beautiful one too!

AtheneNoctua · 18/12/2008 17:31

I resigned a couple of weeks ago. New job starts 5th Jan... and I have agreed to work here between Christmas and New Year to hand over. (however that means I will get paid for holidays not taken so I don't really mind)

I'll e-mail you.

CountessDracula · 18/12/2008 17:32

Love, love, love Jemima one of my favourite names would have been a serious contender for me if this bump was to be a DD

TooMuchMakkaPakka · 18/12/2008 21:37

Am I the only one who hears the name Tiffany and thinks 'I think we're alone now' (don't watch Eastenders) showing my age.
Don't use that one.
