better pull her out now ...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 10/12/2008 20:28

that's just wrong. Alivia?? WTF.

conniedescending · 10/12/2008 20:31

last year we sent all the cards with the proper spellings as she had only just started reception so I took the names at face value. However, I now know how they are spelling their names and it is awful.

Charley is a boy btw

I know someone who has a Kloe, think its awful

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 10/12/2008 20:32

Abbey, Mollie and Reece are fairly common spellings though, not sure about the others!

MrsMattie · 10/12/2008 20:33

lol@Kloe

nickytinseltimes · 10/12/2008 20:33

Yuk.

I know people are trying to be original, but...

conniedescending · 10/12/2008 20:37

well........my dd is asking me to spell Chloe so I'm saying c-h-l-o-e but Chloe in your class is spelling it k-l-o-e so she asks why is it spelt like that????

from your list - had a Zak in my class when I was about 7 (I'm much older than that now )

Abbey and Reece - ermm not sure of the problem there

Mollie, Ayden, Rebekha - all variations that I've seen in people older than me. Although tends to be Rebekah rather than the spelling you've put.

changer22 · 10/12/2008 20:46

Tomas is Polish surely?

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 10/12/2008 20:48

ahh yes changer22 - hadn't thought of that - of course it probably is we have quite a lot of Polish around here >>>>>

Umlellala · 10/12/2008 20:49

Tomas is Spanish/other European.

Connie, you say 'because that's how Kloe spells her name'

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 10/12/2008 20:50

I think too far afield sometimes with names often forgetting Europe

MmeHereWeGoAWassailLindt · 10/12/2008 20:51

What is wrong with Abbey?

LOL at Kloe especially as Klo is loo in German

conniedescending · 10/12/2008 20:52

well I said 'that's how her mummy wanted to spell it'

(I used to get lots of cards for Sarha...)

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 10/12/2008 20:55

there was another mother standing next to me also writing down the names (they've been told they're not allowed to give out class name lists to parents - but DS2's teacher turned a quiet blind eye to us all frantically writing them down off the birthdays board lol) and she was thinking out loud and said "oh and Tongai - how do you spell ^that" - I smiled sweetly and pointed it out on the board for her (it's DS2 )

Oh my goodness! You have a high concentration there. It would kill me!!

conniedescending · 10/12/2008 21:10

yes....thankfully the rest of the school seems more literate according to the school play list.

My grandfathers name was Charley and he was born in 1915 so not a new or made up spelling for a boys name by any means.
