We've picked a boy's name, but stuck for a girl's name.

What do you think of these:
Blair
Liberty
Libbi
Izzabella
Izzabelle
Luca

Not to my taste, personally, but nothing offensive about any of them.

FWIW, I would however, assume Blair and Luca to be boys. Libbi I think is short for Elizabeth and I'd spell Izzabelle(a) with an s instead of a z.

You should call your child whatever name you like as long as it isn't offensive or will lead to them being ridiculled.

DoubleBluff · 07/12/2008 22:10

Blair and luca - boy names surely?
Isabel spelt properly is about the nicest

choosyfloosy · 07/12/2008 22:13

I like Liberty. The others aren't for me, but that's personal due to the spelling.

How about Gray?

thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 22:13

Blair and Luca are both boys names aren't they? have never heard of a female Luca anyway.

prefer Isabella/Isabelle.

Liberty is nice

Hassled · 07/12/2008 22:15

Izzabella just sounds too much like you're trying to put a different spin on Isabella (which is a lovely name - needs no spinning). If it's not broken, don't try to fix it, etc.

Luca and Blair are boys names - will cause all sorts of problems at school and set them up for teasing and she will hate you for it. Don't go there.

ooh that's true!

MrsMattie · 07/12/2008 22:18

The spellings for Isabel/Isabella are silly. Sorry.

Blair is awful.

Luca is a boy's name.

Libby is quite sweet.

I think all the zzzz are unnecessary. A simple s will do.

Wasn't the Luca who lived upstairs something to do with domestic violence? Not that that's got much to do with anything.

Drusilla · 07/12/2008 22:19

I think also with Blair, you run the risk of Blair Witch teasing

Drusilla · 07/12/2008 22:19

But Liberty is nice

Boco · 07/12/2008 22:20

Libby is lovely but with a y and not a i, because names ending in i don't look like they've finished.

choosyfloosy · 07/12/2008 22:20

the official name of the song is my name is luka. it is a boy's name - did the song actually specify whether the singer was female or not?

myredcardigan · 07/12/2008 22:22

My BIL is Blair, quite common boys name in Scotland.
Isobel or Isabel is just so much nicer IMO.

thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 22:22

still, you hear Luca/Luka, you do tend to think boy.

although, that wouldn't necessarily put me off

piscesmoon · 07/12/2008 22:24

I hate all the zzz when it should be s. If you really like it I suggest you have a recognised spelling and shorten to Izzy. I don't like Blair, Luca, Libbi or Liberty.

madetobeamum · 07/12/2008 22:28

Bearing in mind the names I like so far, can anyone come up with a girls name I might like?

OP posts:
myredcardigan · 07/12/2008 22:32

So are you looking for alternative spellings or boys names for girls?

madetobeamum · 07/12/2008 22:33

Just girl's names I might like.

OP posts:
choosyfloosy · 07/12/2008 22:33

Paige
Isla
Rhiannon

thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 22:38

Olivia/Liv

cece · 07/12/2008 22:41

The only one that would be OK is Liberty. The others are either boys names or are spelt wrong imo. And even then I am not a big fan of the name Liberty. Sorry, so what I am saying is none of them.

cece · 07/12/2008 22:44

Kenzie (seeing as you like z and androgonous names)

Lucia

Zoe ( again the z thing)

America

India

Isla

Esme

Esmerelda

madetobeamum · 07/12/2008 22:46

Isla's lovely but DP doesn't like it.

We tend to like girls names that begin with L's as they sound soft and girly.
