Walter inspired thread. So, can I make you like my favourite boys' names? Victor, Bruce, Donald, Richard/Richie

They don't get as much love as I feel they deserve!!!

Walter wouldn't be one of MY faves but from that era, I like plenty of names.

Victor is not so different from Oscar or Jasper.
Bruce is like a cool combo of Ben and Gus
Donald is just so cool it hurts me to type it and I wish I'd called my son Donald but I didn't think of it at the time.
Richard isn't so different from Edward, and its nn Richie isn't so different from Archie.

???

I have a little boy called Richard, so I like that name!

LynetteScavo · 10/11/2008 00:52

I like Victor - but Vincent fab.

Bruce was on my boys list.

Donald where's your trousers?

Richard is good, but not as good as Edward, IMO.

MrsMattie · 10/11/2008 06:29

Sorry, NO.

Bruce is not 'a cool combo' of anything, sorry . It's gross

I cannot even bring myself to comment on Donald.

PMSL

You did ask

Miyazaki · 10/11/2008 06:38

No. I am unmoved.

Shoshe · 10/11/2008 06:47

Middle brother is a Bruce, and it suits him, being 6ft4 and built like the proverbial brick s*house, but don't think it would suit a small delicate boy.

saltire · 10/11/2008 08:02

Bruce is a cool name - after all, it's the name of one of Scotland's greatest hereoes. King Robert the Bruce!
Victor - Meldrew springs to mind!

Lynette its "Donald where's yer troosers?"

2point4kids · 10/11/2008 08:07

yuck, yuck, yuck and yuck

AbbeyA · 10/11/2008 08:20

Dreadful-apart from Richard (as long as not shortened to anything).

LuLuBai · 10/11/2008 11:28

Love Bruce. Absolutely brilliant.

Can't get past Donald Duck I'm afraid, so that doesn't work for me.

Victor is OK. Vincent becomes Vince or Vinnie - an east end gangster name.

I would like to have a boy called Aubrey but it's been made into a girls name in the US, which ruins it.

How about Mervyn?

I think I need to get more pets so I can use up the names DH will never allow me to bestow upon a child. Just imagined a great big tabby boy cat called Terence. Have already told DH I want a wire haired Jack Russell called Mabel.

Liffey · 10/11/2008 11:29

Saltire, there's a ten yr old boy at dc's school called Bruce and he is so bloody rumbunctious in a Just William meets BEN ten way. It made me think the name was cool.

ha ha abooot the troooosers!

some of ye have no taste! These names are round the corner. I put my ear to the track, and I hear them coming I can hear them with my spidey hearing.

Bruce is a very good name. It is one of the names DH has already agreed to put on the list for future male cats.

Eniddo · 10/11/2008 11:43

Bruce is my name for my imaginary boy child

Liffey · 10/11/2008 11:47

Aw! I have an imaginary dd Eniddo. At the 21 wk scan they said it's a boy, and so I sort of feel like there#s a baby Sylvie Pearl out there, somewhere. i am 97% sane. honestly.

I like Bruce. I know a couple my age.

Ritchie was the name of the first ever boy I snogged and still makes me heave thinking of it, so I could never call a boy that.

MannyMoeAndJack · 10/11/2008 11:54

Not keen on Victor
Don't like Bruce
Donald is good
Richard is dull

However, I like

Wilfred
Douglas
Cecil

Bring back the old names!

LuLuBai · 10/11/2008 11:58

Douglas? Hmmmm....

It's good but I don't think it works with my surname so you can keep it!

FimboGotAxed · 10/11/2008 11:59

My ds's middle name is Duncan. My mother hates it and I love it. I wish it was his first name tbh.

Liffey · 10/11/2008 12:04

Duncan, that's another brilliant one. Love that.

Richard seems totally out of place amongst your other names. Like saying Mavis, Beryl, Gertrude and Kate.

chocolatedot · 10/11/2008 12:20

I like Stan and Sid.

LuLuBai · 10/11/2008 13:17

Aaaah! chocolatdot - was just coming back on to add Stan & Sid to the pot! Was thinking about them while I was having lunch.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2008 13:30

Richard is my ds' middle named, named for my late brother, so I love it !

ohdearwhatamess · 10/11/2008 13:34

I love Donald. Used to work with a lovely chap with that name.

AbbeyA · 10/11/2008 13:35

I thought Richard was totally out of place too- it is a lovely name. The rest would be an embarrassment!

MannyMoeAndJack · 10/11/2008 13:41

Also Harold (rather than Harry)
Percy
Herbert
Godfrey

Although I don't think I would use these names myself, they somehow sound good because they are not really heard atm.
