I am not saying my views on this, but has been a name of discussion in our house for several days now.

i'm off to pack up two bedroooms whilst the kids are out, and will check back later.

dont hold back now!

i think it's quite sweet for a girl. but i don't think i'd use it.

colacubes · 28/09/2008 11:12

i like it.

ShowOfHands · 28/09/2008 11:17

I like it but prefer the spelling Jaime.

boolean · 28/09/2008 11:31

I like it - made me think of Jamie Lee Curtis straight away, which is no bad thing

mamadiva · 28/09/2008 11:36

My sister is Jaimee people always say that's a boys name. But I think it is nice.

misdee · 28/09/2008 11:39

i'll chuck in that our surname is Williams

so quite a boy-ish surname as well.

Hulababy · 28/09/2008 11:39

I don't like it for a girl.

loobylu3 · 28/09/2008 11:48

Don't like it at all!

misdee · 28/09/2008 12:43

so would it be Jaime for a girl? or is Jamie an 'accpetable' female name these days?

OP posts:
falcon · 28/09/2008 12:45

I don't like it, though it isn't so bad if it's just Jamie, if it's Jamie-Leigh or similar I immediately think chav.

misdee · 28/09/2008 12:47

not Jamie-Leigh/Jamie-Lee

just Jaime/Jamie

Jaime is the Spanish variation on James. I think it makes it more feminine looking as a name. I like it, but wouldn't use it, IYSWIM. I would happily use it as a nickname or shortening though.

falcon · 28/09/2008 12:50

Isn't Jaime pronounced as Hy-may?

DeJaVous · 28/09/2008 12:51

Take a look here...

Scotia · 28/09/2008 12:59

I like it for a girl. I know a couple of Jamies - one is 21 now, and she is called Jamie Leigh, the other is 18/19, so not overly common use now.

I also have a lovely 21yr old dd called Leigh so am probably a bit biased towards names like this.

I prefer the spelling as Jamie though, the other way just seems more masculine to me.

falcon · 28/09/2008 13:00

Thankyou Dejasvous. I am fairly sure now it should be pronounced as High-me and not Jamie. I'll have to watch The Devil's Backbone again to be sure.

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 28/09/2008 13:03

I like it.

purpleflower · 28/09/2008 13:04

I went to school with a Jamie, she was lovely and very pretty.

belgo · 28/09/2008 13:04

Lovely for a boy. Not for a girl.

ledodgy · 28/09/2008 13:18

I like it it reminds me of this

ellingwoman · 28/09/2008 13:26

I like Janie better.

Jamie unfortunately reminds me of someone I don't like

QueenBhannae · 28/09/2008 13:27

Really dislike this tbh.
Dated and masculine esp with Williams as a surname.

belgo · 28/09/2008 13:38

I like Jenna

frazzledoldbag34 · 28/09/2008 13:43

Reminds me of Britney Spears younger sister. She's Jamie-Lyn isn't she? Don't really like it.

differentID · 28/09/2008 13:46

I know 2 Jaime/Jamie's who are girls. I don't like the name because of these two- one I worked with and the other stole some stuff from me and is banned from ever setting foot in our home again.
