I am not saying my views on this, but has been a name of discussion in our house for several days now.

i'm off to pack up two bedroooms whilst the kids are out, and will check back later.

dont hold back now!

I dislike it but I am not keen on boy's names used for girls - it sounds very dated to me. I think something more traditional like Arthur or Frederick if you really want to cause gender confusion

misdee · 28/09/2008 14:45

My female cousin is called Sidney/Sid

VictorianSqualor · 28/09/2008 15:07

I knew a couple of Jaimes when I was a child.

FILLYJONKhasayarnshopASBO · 28/09/2008 21:41

no don't like it. am not keen on boys names on girls, but mpore than that, it kind of sounds like a nickname, I think its good to have a nice solid name on the certificate. Personally

could jamie be short for something else?

Not keen I'm afraid. It will always require explaining as it is so strongly identified as a boy's name.

jobschmob · 28/09/2008 23:54

I like it.

lisad123 · 28/09/2008 23:57

kingrolo · 02/10/2008 16:10

did anyone see Summer Heights High?Ja'mie King? is a monster!

scorpio1 · 02/10/2008 16:13

I like Jaime for a girl, deffo. DS2 would have been Jamie, either way!

aj13 · 29/10/2008 16:51

I really like it for a girl. i think I would only call a girl jamie....if a boy id think more of james instead.
spelt jamie though

Pinkchampagne · 29/10/2008 16:53

I knew a cute little girl with this name (she won't be so little now though!), but it was spelt Jaymie.

littlelamb · 29/10/2008 16:59

Makes me think of Summer Heights High, but I am sure that will be forgotten soon enough

luckylady74 · 29/10/2008 17:05

My 12 yr old cousin is called this and because she is very sophisticated and stunning I think she carries it well.It doesn't seem to jarr with the Sophies and Indias that she hangs out with. At the time there was a lot of 'eh..that's a boy's name' from extended family and they went for 'Jamie' in the end because that's how everyone spelled it.
On other children it can have overtones of aspiring to be American or shellsuit wearers in the shopping centre - that's what occured to my classist and superficial mind anyway, but that's only my opinion and you said don't hold back!

LuLuBai · 29/10/2008 19:22

I do like the sound of Jamie, but I would leave it as a boys name. To me that whole 'boys name used for a girl' (e.g. Jamie, Andie, Robin, Aubrey) seems a bit old hat and sounds a little American. I hasten to add that there is nothing wrong with that but things just sound different this side of the Atlantic.

AmBOO · 29/10/2008 22:35

It's my [male] best friends name, but I really like it as a girls name too, spelling Jaime is nicer though.

Liffey · 29/10/2008 22:37

No.

Jem I like.

MaryMungo · 30/10/2008 12:01

On a side note, does anyone like Jamesina. I like Jemima, but it's starting to feel overused.

hupa · 30/10/2008 12:14

I immediately thought of this , but maybe everyone else is too young to remember.

katiepotatie · 30/10/2008 12:21

I love it, considering it myself for our LO due in april
