Eden or Tallula?

After my partner shunning all 50 names on my list (except Tallula) and after me cringing at his few offerings (except Eden) we are now down to these 2 names.I love them both. Just don't know which way to go. So here I am.......

Neither

pucca · 14/09/2008 23:56

I like both actually, so not much help really

It makes me smile that people really like Edith/Edie as Edith is my middle name and i loathed it when i was growing up, but i do actually like it alot now, infact have passed it onto dd who is Lilly Edith, it has been passed on 4 generations.

Sorry i will stop waffling now

Hi IR, my tallulah is actually more reminiscent of a sweet and gentle fairy, than all the negative comments i have read

she is smart, hard working at school, very artistic and extremely kind hearted

i think mrsruffallo has the perfect response to a name she may not be keen on

how old is yours?

lou33 · 15/09/2008 00:29

pucca, i also have a lily

SparklyGothKat · 15/09/2008 00:30

My Ds2 has Eden as his middle name, I wanted it as his first name but DH said no

I prefer Eden

MinkyBorage · 15/09/2008 12:59

I think Eden is the sort of name posh or Jordan might come up with, sorry, but not keen.

fizzledizzle · 15/09/2008 13:02

i love both of these names, they are both lovely

whatshallicallDD2 · 15/09/2008 13:03

I agree with MadBad - Tallulah is a 'my parents work in the arts or media' sort of name and not chavvy. I quite like it although don't have the guts to name my daughter something so flamboyant.

Eden is, IMO, very chavvy. Sorry.

KAEKAE · 15/09/2008 13:32

I love it....see my thread.
I love Lula too.
How on earth can someone call the name slutty? How pathetic!! lmao!!!!!
I also love the name Poppy....I would love to have both!

Re the Bugsy connection...the film is over 30 years old, the conncection doesn't concern me at all.

Miyazaki · 15/09/2008 13:46

OrmIrian · 15/09/2008 13:48

Neither.

Agree that Tallulah has some sort of lady of the night about it and Eden is that big dome thingy!

Eden if it's a boy, it's a very nice name.

gloomysue · 15/09/2008 14:00

I also have a Tallulah, fantastic name.

twinsetandpearls · 15/09/2008 14:02

eden

nuthacuppatea · 15/09/2008 18:33

Well thanks for all your comments. I agree with lou33, a simple yes or no would suffice. I don't think more or less of either name after reading some of these comments . They are still both my favourites. I think I'll just have to have both..which way round though?

And yes we have been to that big dome thingy and it was a brilliant beautiful day out.

Baby names threads would be very boring if everyone just said yes or no. I thought the idea was to gauge how people would react in RL? Having said that I'm more for making your mind up and then not telling everyone until the baby is born myself.

I think that Tallulah is more flexible with shortenings etc. I don't agree with misspelling names for the sake of shortenings though. As to which first, I think that depends on how the names sound with your surname.

nuthacuppatea · 15/09/2008 19:02

true. It's certainly not boring!I didn't tell anyone my first daughters name till she was born but the expression on certain peoples faces has left it's mark, I tried not to let their comments put a mark on such a beautiful occasion. This time I thought I'd get all that out of the way first. From my research Tallula is not a mispelling of Talullah, it is an alternative spelling as is Talula. The later being the spelling that the insane people who called their daughter 'Talula does the hula from Hawiai'used...I still can't get over that!

nuthacuppatea · 15/09/2008 19:05

Oh look I can't spell Hawaiai, Hawai, haiwai.I'm having a block!!!
