okay i'm gonna risk it and open up the name debate...

Boys name sorted: Henry William (grandads names)

Girls name was either Sophie or Lily (popular but i dont care..) with either Ella, Ava or Mae as middle name.. popular again.... i know, i know.

we really liked Sophie and our surname begins with S so the alliteration actually sounds nice but when combined with any of the above middle names it gives dubious initials.

Dh has now emailed with:
Sophie Nicole
Sophie Willow
Sophie Scarlett (think he likes alliteration)
Sophie Lydia (lydia was my preferred 1st name

i think i can assume lily is out then...but come on Mners offer some opinion and alternatives as my mind is scrambled. You know it'll be a girl with so much indecision!!!!

grandmothers have names irene and madge! im not loving grandmas names!!! lucy was also a third choice name after Sophie and lily.

I just think May/Mae are SO, SO common now they are almost the 'obligatory' middle name along with Grace or Rose.

I think Sophie is a lovely name; like all your possibles...but Sophie is prettiest I think. How about Sophie Eve? Sophie Helen? Sophie Elizabeth? Of your DH's suggestions I like Sophie Willow.

I know a Sophia May (or Mae, not sure) and she's a real sweetie. Agree that it's a v common middle name though.

I think all your names (except Lydia) are nice and I can't see the problem with SES, SAS or SMS, I think DH might be looking at the initials a bit too hard really. However, I particularly like Willow as a middle name.
