What was Sarah Palin thinking? Does she not have access to mumsnet?!

She's the republican's candidate for vice-presidency.

According to "The Times" today, she was such a keen runner that she named her first child "Track". OMG!

There's also a picture of her in her governor's office in Anchorage sitting on a sofa against a bearskin (complete with head). I know the shooting of bears is probably the norm there and indeed a cull may be necessary, but personally I find this sort of display distasteful.

elliott · 30/08/2008 20:44

'Bristol' must rank as the most unfortunate name ever for a girl...

hoxtonchick · 30/08/2008 20:45

i know a piper, she's great.

ilovemydog · 30/08/2008 20:46

she's republican. They all have guns, shoot, hunt and fish. Which I wouldn't find quite so repugnant if they actually consumed their prey.

Anna8888 · 30/08/2008 20:47

Her choice of baby names demonstrates her poor judgement

Dreadful names. She sounds like a pretty vile woman though.

indiechick · 30/08/2008 20:56

I want to like and admire her, after all she is a high achieving mother of five and should impress and inspire me, but her politics are so right wing I just can't support her.

Can't find any annoouncements about Kirstie's new baby, only old ones about Bay. It's due in August so must be any day now. IIRC, Bay was 11lbs 11oz or something equally eye watering!

Olihan · 30/08/2008 21:01

Or norks. Isn't Bristols another name for norks?

indiechick · 30/08/2008 21:03

Apparently it's after Bristol Bay (place husband grew up, that's Sarah Palin's husband, not mine. Otherwise we'd have a child named Peterborough - not good).
Kirstie's new baby was under 10lbs but is as yet unamed - apparently.

Trig makes me think of Only Fools & Horses (also partly filmed in Bristol)

cyteen · 30/08/2008 21:05

DP and I were sniggering over this very story earlier today

Heated · 30/08/2008 21:07

Don't know the name, but Kirstie's 2nd wasn't quite as eye-wateringly big.

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 30/08/2008 21:46

I imagine that would just put a British politician OUT of the running, if his/her children had such ridiculous names!

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 30/08/2008 21:47

Oh no, Bristol is a girl? That makes it worse. Piper is an oil rig disaster and a type of potato. Maris Piper.

preggersplayspop · 30/08/2008 21:50

I'm speechless. She's a loon.

ilovemydog · 30/08/2008 21:51

Calling your daughter Bristol for an American politican is no worse than Bill and Hillary Clinton calling ther daughter Chelsea.

OK, maybe a bit worse, but better than, um, milton keynes?

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 30/08/2008 22:16

Croydon.

I'm going to go and suggest that one babycenter!

Or what's the name of that place in Liverpool? The infamous place... Croxteth? Would work well as a sibling for Maddox, Pax, Sahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.... Croxteth for a girl obviously. Durr!
