What was Sarah Palin thinking? Does she not have access to mumsnet?!

Concerned about her baby names. But also, why is she running to be VP, when she has a 5month old baby at home.

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 30/08/2008 22:23

It probably makes little difference to her whether she has 5 children or 2 children iykwim. She's probably always been able to afford good childcare.

Wow. REally, a five month old and running for vice P/?

ilovemydog · 30/08/2008 22:24

puts a whole new spin on, 'what I did on my maternity leave...'

Lio · 30/08/2008 22:26

And she supports the death penalty and the teaching of creationism in schools.

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 22:26

Track? Trig?

Uh.my.god.

She's a Republican.

From Alaska.

'Nuff said.

msdemeanor · 30/08/2008 22:26

Gordon Brown ran for Prime Minister with a newborn with CF. David Cameron also had a new baby when he became Conservative leader. There are much bigger problems with SP - she's a creationist who thinks victims of rape and 'incest' (familial rape) shouldn't be allowed abortions. She's also anti gay rights, oh and of course, pro-guns.

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 22:27

'And she supports the death penalty and the teaching of creationism in schools.'

Well, I've not set foot in the US in 7 years, what's another 4?

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 22:28

Still going to be voting, however , just not for anyone who would name a kid Trig AND is pro-death penalty.

wordgirl · 30/08/2008 22:29

Kirstie's new baby is called Oscar I think.

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 30/08/2008 22:39

Wow. She sounds horrible.
Barack Obama's children have normal names so therefore he will be a better president

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 22:41

She's a freak. Who knows what rock McCain found her under. But hey, we're known by the company we keep.

ilovemydog · 30/08/2008 22:51

Was listening to weekend Woman's Hour. They are already doing the same thing to Michelle (Obama), that they did to Hillary (as first lady). Discredit her because she's an intelligent, determined woman, and the whole, 'is she a liability...' comments have been raised. Why? because she has a personality and is a strong womean?

But Malia and Sasha (Obama) are lovely names...

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 23:01

Whereas if you hurled such insults at Palin she'd probably shoot you .

Janni · 30/08/2008 23:09

M'Cain has gone for Palin because she's relatively youthful, groomed and an apple-pie mom who will appeal to redneck republicans. She's a visual counterbalance to him. No one cares a jot about her abilities as a politician.

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 30/08/2008 23:20

Yeah they want a first lady to be a simpering apple-pie making soccer mom.

Which is stupid, because the kind of man who gets to be president, is going to be drawn to other very dynamic, ambitious people.

baffledbb · 30/08/2008 23:29

Isn't Malia the name of a holiday resort in Crete?

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 23:30

This is a gal who went back to work 3 days after having a baby.

Honestly, mothers in the US (and fathers) get short-shrift when it comes to maternity leave as it is.

Is this really something that should be encouraged or seen as laudable?

NoBiggy · 30/08/2008 23:34

Trig, eh?

If I had another, maybe I'd go for statistics, or perhaps calculus.

Ronaldinhio · 30/08/2008 23:45

Names are appalling. I read the article inthe Times this morning and thought that she was perhaps a robot made by the Republicans.

Married childhood sweetheart
5 kids, one about to go to Iraq, one with Ds
Hunts
Shoots
Creationist
ProLife
Describes herself as a hockey mom (no nasty obvious ambition there)

Sounds like a Republican wet dream

bluebellwood · 30/08/2008 23:46

I know it's a matter of personal taste - but, with the exception of Willow, I can't see anything attractive in these names. So many beautiful names to choose from too.

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 23:47

She's a female Dick Cheney.

expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 23:48

Believe me, these whacko names are the least worrisome thing about her.

Ronaldinhio · 30/08/2008 23:51

Even McCain looked frightened standing beside her...

milene · 31/08/2008 23:04

There are rumours that the youngest baby (Trig) is actually the child of oldest daughter, and Palin is just pretending he's hers to avoid the scandal of having an unmarried, pregnant teen. While Palin continued working right up til the day the baby was born and went back to work three days later (despite Trig being born a month prematurely and with DS!) the oldest daughter was off school for 8 months with "glandular fever".

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 01/09/2008 12:38

Bristol cities - rhyming slang for titties!

There's a rumour going round the net that Trig is actually the son of Bristol who is 16. She's been out of school for 6 months with 'mono' and there's a photo of SP at '6 months preg' with no bump...plus she flew 10 hours to deliver somewhere else when she was in labour...

Who knows! But her kids' names are awful.
