I have siblings/cousins called David, Richard, Timothy, Andrew, Jonathan, Elizabeth & James (but also Alan, Robin, Sally & Yvonne - 50s or what!)

DCs/nieces/nephews are Andrew, another Andrew, Hannah, Joseph, Sarah, Jessica, Thomas, Daniel, Samuel, Alexander, Jennifer, Frances & Helen (and a rogue Carly )

i know a younger ruth.

I was going through an exam class the other day, some of the names included Paige, Jorden, Sherrelle, Scarlett, Keira, Kayleigh...totally different names to when I was at school...........

I know a Ruth who is 3,and a Sarah also 3.

look at marriages for Eng&Wales online and just input the name - they then appear in alphabetical order. You can do this aswell to see if a name( on the births) is popular or uncommon, some names are not as uncommon as you think when you input them on the births between 1984-2005

IK do you have a link? Are you using some sort of ancestry site? (can't see it on national statistics site - maybe I've missed it?!)

use ancestry - but use the databases from 1984-2005 for births and mariages

ivykaty, intersting because beyond 100, most people haven't a clue if a name is really popular or not. Lot's of people think that Flora and Esme are really unusual. I reckon they're about 101!!

Of course you can put your own surname in and a choice of first name to find out how unusual or not the name is - then use the same name on marriages to see if there are older persons with the same name.

Remember Chantelle? That was THE mid 80's name for a lot of baby girls. Bet there aren't any aged under 18 now. Amy is timeless.
