nailpolish · 31/07/2008 11:32

Randi

as in randy...

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 11:34

We have a male friend whose real name is Randy although he has a nick name that he is usually known by
it does meet with fairly universal derision when people discover his real name

randy is generally known for meaning 'ready for sex'
I am not convinced you have thought this through

jellybeans · 31/07/2008 11:34

sorry but it is dreadful, will get teased rotten.

RusselBrussel · 31/07/2008 11:35

Randi? As in Randy? As in aroused and ready for sex?

Are you sure??

belgo · 31/07/2008 11:35

Awful.

EffiePerine · 31/07/2008 11:35

??!!

Sazisi · 31/07/2008 11:37

no no no I consider randy to mean horny
please don't!

HumphreyPillow · 31/07/2008 11:37

Milly Molly Randi?

WelliesAndPyjamas · 31/07/2008 11:38

I wouldn't

artichokes · 31/07/2008 11:41

No, no, no.

Randi makes me think sex maniac.
If I heard of a person called Randi I would assume they were male.
Its also not a very pretty word.
In addition it sounds rather like Brandy which is a terrible, terrible name.

Washersaurus · 31/07/2008 11:43

I thought Randy was a boys name - as in National Lampoon?

It does instantly make you think of randy as in gagging for sex.

BlueChampagne · 31/07/2008 13:33

Call her Miranda then you have the option if you still like Randi.

VictorianSqualor · 31/07/2008 13:37

Well Randi is five letters, not four.
So not inkeeping with the four letter names.
Much prefer Miranda.

MmeLindt · 31/07/2008 13:40

No, for the reasons that everyone else stated. Sorry

kittywise · 31/07/2008 13:42

No, sounds cheap and chavvy.

duchesse · 31/07/2008 13:43

OMG, in Britain? No no no no! It's horrible even on an American man in my view. There must be plenty of alternatives- Joan, Jean, Mary, Lena, etc, etc, etc...

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 13:43

No.

She will be dreadfully teased.

someone will not come along and say that children can be cruel about anything and if you love the name you should use it. Which is IMHo a load of cobblers.

Call her Shagbandit and get it over with.....

duchesse · 31/07/2008 13:44

Martian- pmsl- surely just "Shag" if it has to be short and sweet?

KateF · 31/07/2008 13:47

I really wouldn't. It's an American name which doesn't work well in the UK. Miranda is lovely though.

themoon66 · 31/07/2008 13:51

Randi Randi Randi

Nope.. no matter how many times I say it, it's still dreadful.

ThatBigGermanPrison · 31/07/2008 13:52

I think it's a lovely name, and when she graduates from Stripper College, she will hold aloft her nipple tassles in pride, grateful to her parents for giving her inspiration to work in the sex industry by giving her a stripper's name.

DisenchantedPlusBump · 31/07/2008 13:52

No,please don't!

expatinscotland · 31/07/2008 13:52

No.

What is it with this trend for giving children dogs' names?

GorgonsGin · 31/07/2008 14:01

surely a joke?! Randi?!

No. Never.

Terrible name (for all the reasons stated already)
