I have a (not very) shortlist, brothers have pretty classic names, starting J,D,A,C and probably want to avoid those initials unless I love the name.

Michael
Elijah/Eli
Levi
Ernest
Leo
Dominic
Francis
Gabriel
Miles/Milo
Vincent

@EmeraldShamrock000 , it never went away. Over-popular as a middle name.

LovingTheClassics · 13/09/2026 20:42

The classic names are making a comeback, I like Michael but I'm biased as my ds is a Michael. It's not so common now and I had a lot of compliments on it, only issue is there are a lot of nicknames e.g Mike, Mickey, Mikey, I call ds Mickle Pickle. 😂
The there are other classics like Alexander, Nicholas, Anthony, James they are all quite flattering strong names.

Haven't read the whole thread.

Vincent is the standout name from your list! Lovely. Please not Leo - there are enough of them already.

Snugglemonkey · 13/09/2026 23:05

I really love Vincent, Francis and Michael. Also Patrick.

Quentin is the perfect name! Cool, classic and it means fifth.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 14/09/2026 18:48

If I had a fourth boy, I'd go off piste and not follow my others boys names ( old celtic). I'd go for something different

NamingNoNames · 14/09/2026 20:07

Quentin is dreadful.

Helenbelena · 15/09/2026 12:23

Maybe I’m biased, but I know a lovely one so like the name. It also reminds me of the illustrator Quentin Blake.

I think you'd need to be an eccentric confirmed bachelor with an quirky personality, and bags of intellect and creative talent to get away with it.
Reality is a gently parented boy having a tantrum in Bentall's while Mummy and Daddy coo at him.

mathanxiety · 15/09/2026 14:14

Gabriel, Miles, and Michael would be my top three.

Throwing Isaac in as a suggestion.
I like the previous suggestions of Samuel and Patrick too.

Definitely not Levi (Bellfield).

miles is my favourite

Agreed, it really stands out in a bad way on your otherwise lovely list.

I'm going to buck the trend and say Ernest! Ernie is so cool.

"Jacob, Charles (Charlie), Anthony and David"

I think Francis chimes best with the general tone of the other boys' names.

A Mike, Elijah, Levi ,Ernest or Vincent would be a bit odd.

I don't like Leo, Dominic, Gabriel or Miles. A wee bit precious.

Loub1987 · 18/09/2026 16:26

Congratulations! I’ve always loved Elijah, it was on my list but I had girls.

Adding in another name, I love Sebastian (shortened Bash).

Maybeshesbornwithitmaybeitssertraline · 18/09/2026 16:34

Congratulations. I've got 5 boys too. I love Michael and Gabriel.

anonMH · 18/09/2026 17:26

So from your list:

I like Ernest but prefer Edward and Edmund.
personally not keen on Dominic, Eli, Levi or Leo.

Francis is ok but I prefer Franklin. I do like Frankie and Frank.
Miles is good but not Milo.
Vincent is good but not Vinnie
Gabriel is good but not Gabe!
I like Michael

Others that may fit with your existing (lovely ) names:

Samuel or Samson
Sebastian
Nicholas
Peter
Benjamin
Robert
Matthew
Ellis
Elliot
