I am 23 weeks and we are torn between Savannah (the name I am leaning towards) and Riley (the name he’s leaning towards). My grandmother and mother’s names are Jane so middle name will be Jane. I really can’t decide which name I like better. Savannah Jane or Riley Jane. My partner has red hair, so we were thinking of waiting until the day we meet her and if she’s born with red hair, we go with Riley. If she’s born with brown hair or no hair we go with Savannah. Ugh it’s so hard!

Other names we’ve thrown around are:
Cheyenne
Hazel
Willow
Juniper
Daisy.

Why is this the hardest decision of my life

I think Savannah is much nicer than Riley. Hazel is my favourite though - very sweet.

That's as maybe, but it's a surname-as-a-first-name and predominantly used for boys.
Would you want to be one of four Rileys in a class when the other three were boys?

I don't have to think about that as it's not my name and never will be.

I don't like Riley. Isn't it mainly a boys name?
Are you from the UK? It sounds very American.
Savannah is much nicer

@Netcurtainnelly , I have a name that is definitely a girl's name and is suggested on here fairly often but I still get people thinking it's a man's name. Confused

Not keen on Riley! Savannah is nice but can get shortened to Sav so something to be aware of. Love Juniper Jane actually.

Not sure I like the suggestion of Sav: sounds like saveloy and chips!

I like Hazel from your list.

I tend to think of Riley as a boy's name, and I don't like place names for children, so not fond of either Savannah or Cheyenne, which is a city in Wyoming isn't it?

But I'm wondering if you are in the US, which makes it harder to comment as I will be unaware of how these names land locally.

We have similar tastes- I have a Riley, so obviously love the name, but he's a boy. I don't like it for girls. I love the name Savannah. Only have it if you like Savvy as a shortened name.

Savannah is a pretty name and from it you would think the family are respectable and likely working professionals. Riley I thought was a boys name but it screams likely from a ‘chavy’ family.

Riley is an awful name.

Savannah is much, much nicer.

Babies' hair colour at birth is not an indication of the future hair colour.

Just talk your partner out of the name Riley.

From your list, Hazel and Willow are also nice.

Cheyenne is nice too, but I don't think it flows very well with Jane.
Daisy Jane sounds like daisy chain.
Juniper is a little too rhymey with Jane.

Do you like -
Dakota
Winona
Penelope
Alannah
