Thoughts on the name Agatha and nickname Aggie?

Thoughts on the name Agatha, middle name Jean, with a double-barrelled surname?

I really like Agatha, and we’d probably use Aggie as a nickname. I know it’s quite a divisive name, so interested to hear what people think…

One thing I’m unsure about is whether people associate “Aggie/aggy” with “aggressive” or being irritable? I’m not from the UK so I’m not sure if this is actually a thing people would notice?

Would love honest thoughts.

I used to have a neighbour who spelled it Agi. It did seem a bit odd at first but then it was just her name.

Yes, Aggy can be a shortened word to describe someone being aggressive but I don’t hear it that often, that’s not why I don’t like the name. It’s very harsh.

Agatha just makes me think of a really mean miserable woman.

Aggie is a diminutive, rather than a nickname. Also, I think both are pretty.

I love both. Goes well with Jean too.

It's a name i would associate with a wealthy aged relative not a child. Agnès- an- yes - French pronunciation. Still risk being pronounced as Agnes i suppose. How about Jeanette as first name. Still dated but better
