I love the name, but DP isn't sure. I think Merry is cute for a girl while Meredith is more grown up, and good for stern telling off's .

yes or no?

ps. My RL name is common as muck and it drives me mad so I am trying to find less common names for my DC's.

i like it

DD2 is Meredith and we use Merry for short- some people weren't sure at first but the name really suits her
Be warned though lots of people think her name is 'mary' not merry- though this just might be my midlands accent!!
DD1 is Maddison- hence my MN name.
They are Mad and Merry

I think it's lovely. Really different but not in a stupid way. And Merry is a good shortening, and Meredith is good for when she's older

HonoriaGlossop · 29/06/2008 17:09

I think this is a LOVELY name - and the shortening Merry is just so sweet. Go for it...

moshie · 29/06/2008 17:30

It depends which pronunciation you are going to use, the Welsh way, or the wrong other way.

I'm very relieved so many people like the name, unless you're all winding me up ! Even DP is happily referring to our as yet unborn DD as Meredith now .

Ooh, i like .

If a friend didn't have a Merry (Meriel) I'd suggest adding to our shortlist (so far very short).

BabyValentine · 29/06/2008 21:30

Our DD was very nearly Meredith - with Edie as nickname (although be aware of Edie McCready and the Desperate Housewife). Go for it!

Guadalupe · 29/06/2008 21:32

I like it. There was a boy called Meredith at my school and he was beautiful so I'm biased.

Scarletibis · 29/06/2008 21:36

Love it.
I wanted to call one of my DDs Meriel shortened to Merry but DH said no. grr

Mum2BabyRoo · 29/06/2008 22:33

Love the name and if it wasn't the surname of one of our friends I would have seriously considered it for our DD!
