OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
swallowmeupwhole · 22/06/2008 18:55

Just spotted you on here Spidermama-Dropinthe here-long time no speak!! How are you? x

onebatmother · 22/06/2008 18:56

narky, what's important is that you like them.

Mine have got names that people were about..

greenelizabeth · 22/06/2008 18:57

are they in this league onebat?

DoubleBluff · 22/06/2008 18:58

sorry but those names are awful

LucyJones · 22/06/2008 19:00

I know a Blaise, nice unusual name

swallowmeupwhole · 22/06/2008 19:02

I quite like Breeze-Zion has rastapharian connotations yeah?

OneLieIn · 22/06/2008 19:02

Breeze - poor child on any windy day
Zion - not too bad

They are both very different. Have you thought how it would be in the playground.

Nancy66 · 22/06/2008 19:10

Breeze is just sooo daft - different for the sake of it but without thinking of the consequences. People will laugh at you and, more importantly, laugh at your poor child. Don't do it - it's cruel.

Zion - don't like it but slightly more bearable than Breeze.

onebatmother · 22/06/2008 20:10

No, they're not, GE. But the principal remains.

I loathe these babyname threads, because you know that people don't really want to hear other people's 'truth', however much they profess to. Their feelings are bound to get hurt.

It all comes down to groups - socioeconomic/political/religious/whatever.

If you manage to dissuade someone from calling their child, say, Mary, they will call them Jane instead. So IMO these jumpings-on serve no actual purpose, other than to make people feel stupid.

onebatmother · 22/06/2008 20:20

Hmm. I see I neglected to turn my dial down from 'very pompous' towards 'gently chiding'.

Actually, only read the first few responses and GE's response to mine.. and the thread didn't in fact develop into the kicking that it looked to.

Principal remains, though

Sidge · 22/06/2008 20:26

Sorry I don't like them at all.

Breeze sounds like sneeze. Or people will think she was conceived under the influence of a Bacardi Breezer.

Zion is just odd. Might be misheard as Simon.

NorthernLurker · 22/06/2008 20:30

Breeze may be a bit too much - imagine shouting it in the supermarket - or a receptionist saying Dr Breeze X will see you now.... What about Brianne - that has some of the same sort of sounds and is more well-known.

Zion - that's just Not Good - really sorry but it doesn't pass either of the above tests. Call the poor lamb Zach and have done!

greenelizabeth · 22/06/2008 20:42

Very funny onebat, I appreciate you turning down the notch to gently chiding!

I totally see your point. BUT sometimes I feel compelled to save people from themselves!

Actually, I often try to steer somebody away from a name and steer them towards something a little less extreme but in the same style.

Take Breeze and Blaise. Zion and Leon/Zeb.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2008 20:43

Since you ask, I think they are both ridiculous.

hayley2u · 22/06/2008 20:55

dont like either of them sorry, breeze ( febreeze) zion (lion) just mean

Rachmumoftwo · 22/06/2008 21:00

I like Zion, and am quietly singing Bob Marley to myself as I type. Iron, like the lion, in Zion....
What about Marley? Or Ziggy?
Breeze? It is growing on me as I think about it. A bit like River or Brooke. The child would have to be pretty and delicate I think.

okeydokeygirl · 22/06/2008 21:13

They are both quite nice sounding words in themselves but just sound a bit too much like a desperate attempt to be different. I think Zion is quite a strong name and a lot to live up to. Breeze is very hippy and with that brings lots of preconceptions.

Spidermama · 22/06/2008 21:13

Cantsleepwontsleep how unecessarily rude of you.

daffodill6 · 22/06/2008 21:22

Whatever happened to Nancy and Arnold?

Collision · 22/06/2008 21:24

Am not sure it is real as the OP has not come back!

Not keen on either myself.

Twelvelegs · 22/06/2008 21:25

Depends what cultural background you are coming from with Zion.
Breeze, nearly pretentious but not even that, just a little silly.

OverMyDeadBody · 22/06/2008 21:25
Hmm
kateri · 22/06/2008 23:49

In the current international political climate, Zion is just cruel, and asking for trouble for the poor kid, IMO.

tinkhasabean · 23/06/2008 08:52

love them

hf128219 · 23/06/2008 09:01

Narkymum- have you come to a conclusion then?
