Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
puddingandsun · 07/05/2026 18:06

My unfiltered, first thoughts would be

Is Romy short for something?
Eden - do you have Jewish heritage?

StationJack · 07/05/2026 18:35

Have you had the baby? I can't say I like the names but Romy is miles better than Eden.

Greenknightsuccess · 07/05/2026 19:31

Romy is better than Eden.

BoleynMemories13 · 07/05/2026 20:29

Eden is lovely.

Romy sounds very infantile. I wouldn't use it as a given name.

Nursemumma92 · 07/05/2026 20:56

I've only ever heard Romy as a boys name. I prefer Eden.

ShetlandishMum · 07/05/2026 20:57

I like Eden best.

Ipsevenenabibas · 07/05/2026 20:58

Eden is lovely. I'm sorry but Romy sounds tacky!

purpleygrey · 07/05/2026 20:59

Romy is getting very popular where I am.
it’s starting to grow on me.

Tellmetomorrow57 · 07/05/2026 21:03

I'm not wild on either, although I think Eden wins out for me. I quite like Edie as a nickname.

Not short for something and no Jewish relatives

Love Romy although I've only ever heard it used as a shortened version of Romeo.

Jfieobabco · 08/05/2026 20:33

Romy as in Romy Schneider! The famous actress! Very popular name in Germany and France, I love it! (Currently pregnant and will be naming my baby Romy 🤍)

ItsameLuigi · 08/05/2026 20:36

eden! so pretty

Snugglemonkey · 08/05/2026 20:37

I don't like Eden at all. I like Romy though.

Romy is a German/ Austrian pet name for Rosemarie.

Eden is a popular surfer babe/ hippie name.

mathanxiety · 08/05/2026 20:42

I love them both, so I'm no help.

I love Romy Schneider, so maybe on that basis I'd choose Romy. But Eden is gorgeous too.

Romy is an old and well established girl name.

Cali46 · 08/05/2026 21:07

Love Romy!

Daffodilsinthespring · 08/05/2026 21:10

Eden is ok. Romy isn’t.

Pligru6th · 10/05/2026 09:55

This thread is so divided! I like Romy, Eden is a bit meh.

You could’ve shared your associations without quoting me but as you did I feel I have to justify mine -
Eden is a very common girls’ name in Israel, even top name a couple of decades ago. It was made popular here through the Jewish communities around 2005-2010.
Means paradise from Hebrew, as I’m sure op already knows.

Thanks for letting us know what Romy is diminutive for in Germany/ Austria.

PieLoe · 10/05/2026 10:34

Romy

Hellometime · 10/05/2026 12:39

Not keen on either tbh. Romy I immediately think of Romy and Michelle’s high school reunion film.

Britishtrees · 10/05/2026 12:42

Romy short for Rosemary in my traditional circles. Lovely name
