Help me choose between these girls names?

Can't make up our minds between:

  • Charlotte
  • Heidi
  • Sophia
  • Tabitha

Surname is a single syllable.

DH likes Charlotte but we worry that it is very popular.

Also, not sure what middle name to use with any of above.

We have an Elizabeth (Lizzie) already.

TIA

I love Heidi.

Cecy · 14/06/2008 21:39

Charlotte is the same style and best match for Elizabeth.

posieflump · 14/06/2008 21:39

I like Charlotte the best, then Sophia, not keen on the other 2

WelliesAndPyjamas · 14/06/2008 21:39

I like Sophia
DH says he likes Charlotte

tiredlady · 14/06/2008 21:40

I love Tabitha, and wanted it for dd but dh wouldn't let me. Still haven't forgiven him.

ELR · 14/06/2008 21:40

tabitha

tortoiseSHELL · 14/06/2008 21:40

Charlotte - pretty, goes nicely with Elizabeth, but very popular atm
Heidi - love it! Would love to use it, but don't think I have a thick enough skin to rebuff all the 'Heidi the goatherd' type comments.
Sophia - classy, beautiful, popular
Tabitha - least favourite, though still pretty. Would you think about something like Tamsin?

Does Lizzie have a middle name?

Other suggestions to go with Elizabeth;
Sarah
Rebecca
Abigail

controlfreakyagain · 14/06/2008 21:40

heidi.

char;lotte and sophia rather dull (but nice)

tabitha ok...... for a cat.

Dottoressa · 14/06/2008 21:40

Tabitha is lovely!

lilyloo · 14/06/2008 21:41

I like Heidi

ivykaty44 · 14/06/2008 21:45

I like all four

Think teenage

Tab/Tea
Charlie/ Lottie
Soph
Heidi

there is nothing you can do to stop it

I would go for Heidi

dizzydixies · 14/06/2008 21:46

Charlotte or Tabitha for me

what about Matilda?

Aero · 14/06/2008 21:46

I like Tabitha and Heidi best from that list. Actually, I love Charlotte too, but it is verrrrrrry popular and my friends teenage dd is now known as Chaz (not Lottie or Charlie etc) which puts me off a bit! Sophia pretty too. All very lovely names tbh.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2008 21:55

Heidi and Tabitha both great.

Lottie and Lizzie a bit too similar IMO.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 14/06/2008 21:59

We have a Heidi. We haven't had any goatherd comments so far. This July we're going to Switzerland on holiday, perhaps then.

I like Charlotte and Sophia too, v pretty.

MONKEYMONKEY · 14/06/2008 22:00

you could have charlotte and spell it different my DS has a girl in his class with a girl called Sharlotte and they call her lottie for short.

Servalan · 14/06/2008 22:00

Another vote for Heidi

littleboyblue · 14/06/2008 22:02

I like Heidi, it's so pretty. Not sure what middle name though, something like May/Mai?

littleboyblue · 14/06/2008 22:03

Or why not Charlotte Sophia?

Piffle · 14/06/2008 22:03

sophie very very abundantly popular, inevitably shortened to Soph... As would Sophia I suspect.
heidi very nice, like tabitha a lot a name with personality too
Also know lots of lotties.... Lots n lots and mollys too v v v v common around here.

lilyloo · 14/06/2008 22:04

My sis a Charlotte and she is called Shaz and her dd is Sophia and we call her SoSo ?
Think Heidi the only one that won't get shortened.

yama · 14/06/2008 22:07

Sophia and Heidi I love.

Not keen on the other two.

Anna8888 · 14/06/2008 22:10

Charlotte goes very well with Elizabeth, and is the prettiest name.

Sophia also pretty.

Tabitha OK, but much more unusual than Elizabeth.

Heidi is horrid.

CamboMambo · 14/06/2008 22:16

Thanks for the great feedback and suggestions.

Hadn't thought of abbreviations so much. Not keen on Chaz/Shaz, Lottie is v similar to Lizzie and we know loads of boy- Charlies. But I suppose we only have so much say in this area anyway!

LOL at "Heidi the Goatherd" comment. That's a blast from the past and thankfully unlikely for a TV revival. It's not putting me off!
