Can't make up our minds between:

  • Charlotte
  • Heidi
  • Sophia
  • Tabitha

Surname is a single syllable.

DH likes Charlotte but we worry that it is very popular.

Also, not sure what middle name to use with any of above.

We have an Elizabeth (Lizzie) already.

TIA

Go for Heidi. It's a sweet name and travels well across Europe.

Izzybel · 14/06/2008 22:20

My dd's middle name is Sophia. I think it's a beautiful name. Wish I'd saved it for if we ever have another girl.
Charlotte is also lovely. I love Lottie for short. Very cute.

sweetkitty · 14/06/2008 22:26

Charlotte

poppysocks · 14/06/2008 22:36

How are you pronouncing Sophia? My Mum is So-fire and is driven crazy by being called So-fee-a or Sophie-a (IYSWIM). We opted to use it as DD's middle name so it's just there but not used all the time. Mum just ends up introducing herself as Sophie a lot of the time.

Don't know any So-fee-as though so don't know if they suffer similar problems.

Just a thought.

I like Charlotte most but I think that Lottie and Lizzie are too similar so I would go for Sophia which is very pretty.

castille · 14/06/2008 22:50

Sophia is my favourite, if pronounced So-FEE-a.

Charlotte is ok.

Not at all keen on Tabitha or Heidi.

like charlotte or sophia (sofeea not sof eye a)

Charlotte my fave from your list - love the shortening Lottie. We considered it for DD2 for a long time, but do you like Charlie? We didn't and that was a deal breaker for us.

My second fave is Sophia. We also considered that (mainly for a middle name, but briefly as a first name). It is very pretty, but felt it was quite formal and didn't seem to have much of a shortening, except to Sophie!.

Charlotte Sophia does sound very nice!

I like Sophia best,then Charlotte.

Cynthia32 · 15/06/2008 00:27

I know girls with all of these names. Charlotte is very common I'm afraid. Sophia is pretty. Tabitha reminds me of a cats name tbh! Heidi...only suits certain people!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 15/06/2008 01:33

I've always loved the name Sophia (comes from the Greek for intelligent, knowledgable) but our surname begins with an S so if ds had been a girl he would have initials SS, hmm... but its my favourite from that list.
Charlotte, nice but very popular.
Tabitha, nice for a kitten not a grown up woman.
Heidi, ok but not amazing.

Met baby girls recently named Francesca, Martha and Eve, liked all those.

TwoFirTreesToday · 15/06/2008 16:07

We have an Alexandra and if DS had been a girl may very well have been an Elizabeth, we thought the two went well together. Sophia is my favourite from your list, not keen on the others so much.

  • Charlotte - my name, and have a 1 syllable surname and personally i think it fits nice lol. V popular - there are 3 in my form, just bear that in mind, but i think its a name that will always be popular without being 'fashionable' iyswim?

  • Heidi - i know a gorgeous little Heidi. Think its quite nice next to Elizabeth and has a lot of personality, but for some reason the name makes me want to screw my nose up slightly - sorry

  • Sophia - prefer Sophie, but thats more popular, and i think Sophia is nicer next to Elizabeth

  • Tabitha - It's a cat's name sorry!! doesnt sit right with ELizabeth imo

Pinkjenny · 15/06/2008 16:22

Heidi - hmm, Kerry Katona?

I love Tabitha, a friend of my mum's has just called her baby this, and it just sounds so cute, and conjures up images of the gorgeous little blonde haired girl on Bewitched.

I contemplated Sophia for dd but dh said it reminded him of the grandmother in the Golden Girls.

Charlotte - my sister in law's name. She's very square.

AbbeyA · 15/06/2008 16:24

I love Charlotte as a name and it goes well with Elizabeth.

henrys7thwife · 16/06/2008 15:18
