Yes, but other names are used, in the same way as Christians use virtue names.

Blueuggboots · 30/12/2025 18:06

@CrostaDiPizzaabsolutely, I’m just interested what constitutes a Muslim name.

I had a little Muslim girl in Brownies years ago called Muntaha - I thought it was a lovely name and really unusual (although apologies if it's not actually a Muslim name).

Yes it is! A girl I was friends with at uni who was an East African Muslim was called that.

RainbowBagels · 06/01/2026 17:53

I was listening to a Stevie Wonder countdown the other day, and remembered why I love Ayesha. Its because of the song ' Isnt she Lovely'. Theres a line in it ' Life is Ayesha- the meaning of her name' Its not my favourite song but when I was young I wanted to be called Ayesha because I heard it in the song!

PevenseygirlQQ · 06/01/2026 17:59

@CrostaDiPizzaabsolutely, I’m just interested what constitutes a Muslim name.

In Islam, any name is allowed as long as it has a positive meaning. My brother was born and raised Muslim and his name is William, the meaning of the name is beautiful as it means a strong-willed warrior.
Most people just mean an Arabic sounding name when they refer to a Muslim name.

Kitchenbattle · 06/01/2026 18:39

Emira/Amira

IAmTheLogLady · 06/01/2026 18:42
