Hawa is a pretty name - your top 5 are all lovely though.

Hawa is the muslim version of Eve right, from Adam and Eve??

Did you want a name that is fairly usual in the UK or would you rather something that is not commonly used? As you say, Hanna, Layla and Zara are Arabic and common in the UK. I don't think it matters but it just may be helpful to narrow down your choices a bit.

Oh dear, what was said, something very ridiculous 🙄

Idiots everywhere I'm afraid. I reported it.

Aisha
Layla
Hana
Malaika
Sairah
Zara

BiffandChip2 · 30/12/2025 12:16

Love Khadija. I teach in a high Muslim population and there are loads of Anaya/Inayah/similars. I'd avoid those!

Minahil is pretty too 🩷

ManyPigeons · 30/12/2025 12:41

Samira/samyra
Noor
Inaya

TheeNotoriousPIG · 30/12/2025 12:42

From your lists, I like Soraya (I taught a little girl with this name, but a different spelling!), Hanna and Sumara.

Out of all of the Muslim girls that I used to teach, my other favourite names were Amara, Anaya and Arissa.

DialSquare · 30/12/2025 13:04

I work with a Sariya which I’ve always thought was a lovely name. I personally prefer it to Sorraya.

Blueuggboots · 30/12/2025 13:22

Halima.

CrostaDiPizza · 30/12/2025 13:42

Amaya, Anaya, Inaya, Alayna, Elayna are very common here, and all blend into each other. Aisha was popular about 20 years ago.

Nadia, Sadia, Nadine seem a bit middle aged. I like Hala but don't know any young ones.

Habiba is too close to habibi.

toomuchcrapeverywhere · 30/12/2025 13:53

Nasira and Zainab are nice. Former lovely work colleagues of mine.

me24x · 30/12/2025 14:56

Rania

drdoolittlejennubs · 30/12/2025 16:29

I named my daughter Soraiya. Did have Hawa in mind before she was born. Also like Jamila, Rabiah

HebeJeeby · 30/12/2025 17:07

what about Khadija or Ayesha?

mimbleandlittlemy · 30/12/2025 17:08

@Judgejudysno1fan - in the Old Testament, Hannah is the mother of the prophet Samuel, so what in the UK used to be thought of as a 'nice Biblical name'. I think she has a different role in the Quran and in Arabic, but either way, it's a very traditional and lovely name.

I think your top 5 are all lovely. I also really like Zainab which a PP has suggested.

My ds has a name that was carefully chosen to reflect both his parent's religious heritage so it is a name that occurs in both the Old and New Testaments and the Quran.

Bringemout · 30/12/2025 17:23

Haya
Zeina
Sheikha

I love Safa myself

Blueuggboots · 30/12/2025 17:28

I am genuinely interested - what makes it a Muslim name please?
A Christian name is often derived from the bible, eg, Lydia, Dorcas, Mary, Miriam etc…would a Muslim name appear in the Quran?
