Love it. But does it just blend in with the ridiculously popular Olivia? Thoughts?

I don’t like it at all, I think it’s so frumpy and drab.

Must admit, makes me immediately think of Olive from the buses or Olive Oil from Popeye. As a colour it’s not particularly vibrant either. Olivia is much more elegant and nicer imho.

Berlinlover · 26/12/2025 17:25

Absolutely awful OP, sorry.

Emanwenym · 26/12/2025 17:26

Olivia is much more elegant and nicer imho. It is but there are so many of them.

Blingismything · 26/12/2025 17:36

Love it, I know an Olive in her late twenties and a few younger ones.

MerryAndBrightLaLaLa · 26/12/2025 18:19

Love it!

Boring!!!

Shortestdayyay · 26/12/2025 18:21

Really bad.

Emanwenym · 26/12/2025 18:29

@MerryAndBrightLaLaLa It's a nice name but it's so overused that it looks like the parents couldn't be bothered. Her middle name is probably Rose, Grace or May.

AmyDuPlantier · 26/12/2025 18:38

Oh it’s awful to my ear. Very lumpen and drab.

magicscares · 26/12/2025 18:41

I think it’s lovely.

Olive or Olivia?

It makes me think of olives, which I love but wouldn't name a baby that as i imagine big round shiny green/black/purple heads.

OnceMoreIntoTheBreachDearFriends · 26/12/2025 19:54

Wasn't keen at first after the (de)influencer Kate Hayes called her child Olive (or Oluffff in her pronunciation) but then my god-daughter called her daughter it and she's absolutely adorable...

Lemonlimonade · 28/12/2025 19:50

I dislike it strongly 🫒

How come out of interest? I get the impression that it is a very marmite name!

@agirlandherdog1234 Olivia is nice but they're everywhere. Olive is drab and frumpy.

Clarehandaust · 28/12/2025 21:13

No

Quincette · 28/12/2025 21:15

It’s a dreary and ugly name.

Lemonlimonade · 28/12/2025 21:15

It sounds ugly and reminds me of an oily olive 🫒

I agree about Olivia. It is nice, but I like the retro vibe of Olive.
As I've said above I get the impression Olive is a very marmite name! That's the spice of life though ☺️

Gladys and Beryl have a retro vibe.

True that.
I don't feel its in the same league though

i have an Olive! she is 2 and half and everyone we've met loves her name! only 'older' people (i'm 28) have mentioned popeye or on the buses, we call her Bobs (started as ollibobs) ☺️

MrsZiggywinkle · 28/12/2025 21:30

agirlandherdog1234 · 26/12/2025 16:28

I appreciate people's associations with names and stuff, but as the name Olive has revived a bit, the association would no longer be that? I'd like to think??

Edited

It was my first thought.

hyggetyggedotorg · 28/12/2025 21:30

I really can’t stand Olive or Olivia. No idea how either became so popular.

Horses for courses I suppose.
