Reece is a boys name. As is James

Everley, Avery and Reece are ok for girls. Not James for a girl. She will always be explaining and people will always expect a boy/ man from seeing it written down. Jamie is ok for a girl if you really wanted to.

Reece no it’s a boys name. Avery I love I’ve got a Carey and she has totally owned it she’s now 21

Avery is a boys’ name too, or at least I’d expect a boy if I was waiting for an Avery.

Reece is both a boys name and chocolate. Why would you call a girl James?

Avery or Everly are nicer.

You'd need to spell it Reese for a girl and it's lovely. James is not lovely but Jamie works.

Avery, James and Rhys are boys names.

There are thousands of beautiful girls names out there. Why not pick one of those? 🤷🏻‍♀️ As I say to everyone who posts suggestions like this… would you name a son Jessica, Annabelle or Clara?

I really dislike the name Reece.
Either have Rhys for a boy (which I like), or Reese for a girl (which is ok but I don’t love it).

I’d never do James for a girl. I feel like people who use obviously traditionally male names for girls are so “ooh look at us, aren’t we so interesting and outside the box”. And like a PP says, they’d never use an obviously female name for a son. The trend of unisex names only seems to go that way - male names become neutral because no one would call their son Elizabeth.

I would not call a girl James. It sounds like you were hoping for a boy.
Reece is also a boys name.
I do know a few female Everlys.

I know a family who already had only girls and when their last child was born, the given name was Andie, but was also a girl. It was as if they were disappointed it was another girl and not a boy.

Reece, James and Avery are all very masculine names, the child may grow up to feel that you wanted her to be a boy.

Everley and Aviana are very American sounding - of the two, I prefer Aviana.

Apparently someone forgot to tell Reece Witherspoon her name is a boys name. I personally don't like it because DDs high school (and also female) bully was called Reece. That bitch! But obviously I don't expect a random stranger on MN to hold the same grudge.

I know a teenage girl in New Zealand called Reese, but as my old headmaster was Mr Reece I really dislike the name, Rhys is better.

Reece is a family name for us, oldest in his 60s and several scattered down the ages. Most recent was a girl, suits her, but we were all like huh?!

Reese reminds me of candies like Reese's pieces. Also it sounds like a boy's name. But whatever.

Reece - OK for a boy. Dreadful for a girl.
James - lovely for a boy. Dreadful for a girl.

Everley - too similar to Beverley
Avery - Postage scales and sticky labels. Too similar to Aviary and Ovary.
Aviana - Avian flu. Sounds like the name of an air museum or bird sanctuary.

Girls with a boys name means one of two things:-

1 Parents wanted a boy.
2 Parents think that they are cool and edgy and want lots of attention.
