Aurora is a girl's name
Rory is a boy's name

Naff.

I love it and felt smug when I randomly thought of it for my second (fictional) dd

Then I heard it at the sea life museum - seems its quite popular 😭

There’s one at our playgroup and I love it, she is super shy then very outgoing when you get to know her and it suits her perfectly x

I know two female Ruaridhs if your set on calling her nickname.

I love Rory as a boys name but not for a girl. Aurora is a bit of a mouthful to me.

I think both names are difficult for little ones to say. My friend has a boy Rory who is usually called Wawy at nursery

Aurora is quite pretty. Rory…Bremner or McGrath…the latter with very unsavoury connotations.

I like Aurora, and Rory is a lovely, natural nickname for it.

It's alright but there are lots of boy Rorys around and in the UK it has a v male vibe I think

Aurora is a bit Disney princess and may be tricky for little ones to pronounce.

Rory for me is firmly a boy’s name.

The character Rory Gilmore was female. Though that was a nickname for Loralei (sp). Never sure how they got Rory from that. But it wouldn’t be a total surprise for a girls name I guess, especially as a nickname.

i find Aurora a real mouthful though. Just seems difficult to say.

rory will forever be thought of as a Celtic boys name, why make this difficult for your child?

@Mariammaom , It's awful though. Alex for Alexandra is fine. I don't like Charlie for a girl - it looks like they were hoping for a boy.

People can use any nickname they like - it’s not ‘reserved’ for one gender!
It doesn't mean that they should.

I’ve got a chihuahua named Aurora and her nick name is Roro, little legs and when she eats her own poo it’s often Rat dog.

I like Aurora, but I've only ever met boys called Rory (UK-based).

Aurora reminds me of parents who dress her in pink and frills.
Rory is awful. Bad enough for a boy really awful for a girl.
