Hiya everyone,
I’m due a baby girl in the next 2 weeks so time is running out! We have a shortlist but I’m just not massively convinced by any or can find a negative to each one! Middle name will be Elizabeth as it’s a family tradition on my side.
Which of the following would you choose? Any other suggestions? Any names you love but didn’t get to use?
Jemima
Georgina
Beatrice
Charlotte
Rebecca
Naomi
Thanks guys! x

Beatrice is my favourite, followed by Rebecca. But honestly…they are all lovely 💖

ForFunGoose · 20/11/2025 23:05

Would you consider Georgia instead of Georgina?

Georgia Elizabeth is lovely

netflixfan · 20/11/2025 23:06

You need a short first name if you’re having Elizabeth sa middle name I think.

I have an irrational hatred of the name Jemima, it's so limp to me. I wouldn't choose Georgina and Naomi doesn't go with Elizabeth IMO.
The other 3 I really like, Bea is a particularly nice NN too.

I have to say ‘limp’ is a good word to describe your list overall imho. Naomi less so and would definitely be what I’d choose from your list.

OldBeyondMyYears · 20/11/2025 23:09

Just as an aside…my sister is Naomi and has always been called Nomi…because apparently I was unable to say Nay/o/mi when she was born (I was 3 🤷‍♀️). I said ‘Nomi’ and it stuck 😬🤣

You need a short first name if you’re having Elizabeth sa middle name I think.

Why though? I think more syllables is ok, and actually rolls off the tongue easier than a one syllable/four syllable name 🤷‍♀️

Charlotte Elizabeth/Beatrice Elizabeth sounds much better than (eg) Faye Elizabeth/Rose Elizabeth. I think the other way round works better with a shorter sound though…Elizabeth Rose.

It’s just personal preference really 🤷‍♀️

Peternell · 20/11/2025 23:16

I love them all except Naomi. And Naomi gets strange pronunciations eg Nigh-omi.
My favourites are Jemima and Georgina. All fine with Elizabeth.

ExperiencedContractor · 20/11/2025 23:25

I would choose Charlotte from your list.

Alternative suggestions:
Lucy Elizabeth
Sophie Elizabeth
Alice Elizabeth
Susannah Elizabeth
Victoria Elizabeth
Florence Elizabeth
Hannah Elizabeth
Claudia Elizabeth
Isobel Elizabeth

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 20/11/2025 23:26

Beatrice

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 20/11/2025 23:28

Agree, a longer first name rolls off the tongue better.

Crumpets12 · 20/11/2025 23:45

i feel like Georgia, josephine, Helena, Eleanora or Elsie fit the vibe

Thanks for the replies.
I think my favourite is Rebecca and my Husbands is Beatrice.
Our surname is one syllable so luckily a longer first and middle name works.
Not heard of Jemima being a dogs name before, but might just be my area.
Unfortunately my husband doesn’t like Eleanor or it would be on the list!

I'm with DH: Beatrice is my favourite.

LancashireButterPie · 21/11/2025 00:11

Love Naomi and Jemima
Like the others.

user1492757084 · 21/11/2025 00:46

My faves are ..
Rebecca Elizabeth
Jamima Elizabeth
Charlotte Elizabeth

Others ..
Scarlett Elizabeth
Bridget Eizabeth
Claudia Elizabeth

LivingTheDreamish · 21/11/2025 02:06

I like Jemima and Naomi from your list - they sound fresh and different and both are nice with Elizabeth. Jemima could be "Jem" surely? Beatrice in third spot.

Rebecca still feels dated to me, Charlotte is a bit overdone. Also prefer Georgia over Georgina.

Other suggestions:
Juliet
Cordelia
Josephine
Cassandra
Imogen

MsSmartShoes · 21/11/2025 02:46

Jemima or Naomi

bingewatchingnetflix · 21/11/2025 02:46

The abbreviations would put me off some of the names.
Becky..?
Charlie?
Beatrice is a lovely name I think but could it be potentially associated with Princess Beatrice? She knowingly visited a convicted peadophile as an adult and celebrated his release from prison..

We live in SW London and Jemima is a popular dog’s name.

BoleynMemories13 · 21/11/2025 06:26

Charlotte is by far my favourite.

Rebecca and Georgina are ok, but a bit dated now.

The other three really aren't my style. I find Jemima and Beatrice in particular quite frumpy.

Names of a similar style to those on your list:-

Helena, Alice, Harriet, Louisa, Catherine, Emily, Olivia, Penelope, Francesca, Lydia, Verity, Alexandra, Samantha

ChocolateCinderToffee · 21/11/2025 07:04

Charlotte or Jemima, from your list. I’d prefer Cecily, Laetitia or Phoebe though.

TiddlyToucan · 21/11/2025 07:14

Thanks so much for all these opinions. Everyone seems to like different names - not sure there is much of a consensus!
I think Charlotte is off because I don’t like the shortenings & think they are inevitable.
Also not convinced on the shortenings for Georgina so that might be ruled out too.
I like Philippa from the suggestions but my husband isn’t sure

Jemima ❤️

Jemima is my favourite.

kittywittyandpretty · 21/11/2025 07:22

Jemima is an always will be a duck

Nursemumma92 · 21/11/2025 07:23

Jemima is lovely but I know 2 and it's shortened to Mima in both cases. Beautiful name though!

Sleepnplay · 21/11/2025 10:11

I love Naomi, second choice would be Rebecca. I don't like Beatrice, but love Beatrix, and would choose that in a heartbeat. Good luck!
