Does Jude make you think of Judy?

I really like the name Jude for a boy but MIL said it makes her think of Judy and people would think he was a boy, and now DH does too

Are they mad or is it just me?

I wanted Jude for DD2 had she been born a boy - I love it but DH didn't think it was a "proper" boys name. He wanted something more traditional like Daniel.

Everyone has their opinions on names, obviously if you and DH want to have Jude, have it.

I know male and female Judes. If I saw it written down, I think I'd keep an open mind as to whether it was a boy or a girl. Like I would with an Ashley.

Collision- LOL. Yes, did think that after I had done it. When I had ds1, I told my nan the names we liked and she said 'hmm. Well, you have afew months yet to think of some nice names'!!

My DS is called Jude and I love the name! We often lengthen the name and call him Judah.

My first thought was Jude the Obscure (which is rather depressing in parts), my second Hey Jude. The last thing I would think of is Judy; despite having an aunt called Judy who sometimes calls herself Jude, I always think of it as a boy's name.
