Not to keen. Batman and Robyn sprang to mind. May be spelt differently though

Irenesortof · 30/10/2025 08:01

Nice name, probably a girl.

It is. Robin: male. Robyn: Female.

Toadetta · 30/10/2025 09:55

I like the name, for some reason it makes me picture a red headed/strawberry blonde child.

I think a girl could be Robyn or Robin but a boy could only be Robin.
Same rule for Ashley and Ashleigh. Couldn't name a boy Ashleigh but a girl could use the ley spelling.

It's pretty popular for boys and girls right now, so deffo not dated

It feels dated as it was popular years ago - it's one of those ones that's come back around after falling out of favour, but I'm not sure why as it's not a particularly nice name (imo).

ChristmasRager · 30/10/2025 12:01

I think it’s a bit naff but unsure why - I have an aunt called that so perhaps there’s connotation there. If you like it, go for it!

User5306921 · 31/10/2025 01:15

I think its a silly name. Better as a girl's name than a boy's name but not good for either.

We use nn Bobbin when she was little or now Bob (a family in-joke Blackadder reference as her middle name is Kate). Bobbi (as in the famous makeup artist Bobbi Brown) is also less masculine.

That’s exactly what we did and do with our Robyn. It’s a beautiful name and I have no regrets 🥰

I'm not keen on it TBH. The only male Robin I've known was a bit of a twat.

Well, there was Robin Hood!

DoYaKnowTheFiveLamps · 31/10/2025 02:24

I prefer it spelled Robin. I like it.

Vera87 · 31/10/2025 15:52

The nasty wife of Kody brown in sister wives haha

autumn1610 · 31/10/2025 16:21

I have two Robyn’s in my life both very close to me so I like it. Both also female and spelt with the ryn. One we call Rob and another has a different nickname

Positive21 · 16/11/2025 17:26

I am Robyn, when I was a bump I was “Bob” from blackadder. Occasionally when I was a child people would call me Rob but I’d just correct them and say I didn’t like it and no one tries to shorten my name as an adult. I quite like my name! Agree with other posters saying Robin for a boy is a bit “wet” though.

And as a girl, I’d hate if my name was spelt Robin not Robyn 😂

DinoLil · 16/11/2025 17:32

I'm here in the corner, watching you with her...

Yes I'm worried it could be shortened to Rob if we did use the name. Or Robbie.

I think you can put your foot down as the parent until baby reaches a certain age where they can decide themselves. But my nanny always used to call me Rob and we just wouldn’t answer until she used my full name! No reason for anyone to call a baby girl Rob!

PhaseFour · 16/11/2025 18:02

I know one - she's cool, quirky and kind.
I lovd the "Robyn" spelling, too.
Not keen for a boy though.

AdoptDontShop2025 · 16/11/2025 18:06

Batman.

I like the name but not the spelling.

But id say its the way to differentiate between male female

I personally like Robyn, would make me think of a winter baby born in snow.

Do you mean for alternative name suggestions?

If I literally just heard it, I would probably hear it as Robin, and be expecting to see a boy.
