My top three are Ava, Esme or Marnie.

Most of the others are also nice, except I really dislike Bonnie (because I would hate to be called this myself).

TooManyCupsAndMugs · 15/10/2025 13:26

Ava is v common - there will be at least 2 others in her school class I promise!
Romy is nice and in a country I know well it is is the nickname for Romina, which is also nice.

Bournetilly · 15/10/2025 13:28

I like it pronounced Rom-me but not Rome-me. I know 2 children called Romy, 1 pronounced each way.

Enough4me · 15/10/2025 13:29

From your list - Orla.

catin8oot5 · 15/10/2025 13:38

If I’d ever had my longed after girl she would have been Romilly 😀

I don’t think it sound like a proper name

Agree.

It’s a bit like Romany gypsies, but not quite.

There are better names out there.

ohyesido · 15/10/2025 13:45

I’ve always loved Romy. Is it short for something or a name in itself though?

DreamOfTheRarebitFiend · 15/10/2025 13:51

I like it but think it sounds more like a nickname? I knew a Romy who pronounced it 'Rah-me' so you might find that she's always having to tell people how to say it.

I love Eden, and Edie is a lovely nickname.

zigazigahhhh · 15/10/2025 13:57

I love Romy! It’s number 1 on my girls list

Viviennemary · 15/10/2025 14:00

Not at all keen on Romy. In your list I like Daisy best and Margot next. Marnie is pretty dire.

Mizztikle · 15/10/2025 14:02

Romy is nice unusual name and it will suit a child and an adult.

deeahgwitch · 15/10/2025 14:26

Is there a reason why Marnie is becoming popular ?

Darragon · 15/10/2025 14:29

I can’t believe we’re on page 2 and no one else instantly thought of Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion. I feel old. 😂

Is there a reason why Marnie is becoming popular ?

@deeahgwitch It's not particularly, but it's mentioned on here more frequently.
It also has sounds that occur in popular names. (Margot, Arlo, the -ie names)

It's short for Margaret, I think.

Third post, I mentioned it!

averythinline · 15/10/2025 14:46

I would have said roh me not ro me like Rome with a Y ..so doesn't sound great... Like most of your others... Less keen on Daisy as there were a couple of horrors at dc school...
Marnie is probably my favourite also Bonnie and every Orla i've has been lovely

The little girl I never had was called Romy 😍

Rainbows41 · 15/10/2025 15:49

Only if you name her future sister Michelle...

blankcanvas3 · 15/10/2025 15:52

I love Romy and all of the other names too, except Bonnie because now unfortunately that just reminds me of Bonnie Blue and the name will forever be associated with her in my head.

JennyChawleigh · 15/10/2025 15:56

It's the name of Boris and Carrie Johnson's daughter - if that's at all off-putting 😁

Mistyglade · 15/10/2025 16:19

I love Romy.
Margot Eden & Orla are the best of the rest.

HeartbrokenCatMum · 15/10/2025 16:28

I knew a Romy and she always got called “Rome-y” which she hated.

kellygoeswest · 15/10/2025 16:29

Romy is lovely, I like all of the names really, except Bonnie.

Ava is pretty but I have several friends/acquaintances who have girls named Ava!

RawBaby · 15/10/2025 16:30

HeartbrokenCatMum · 15/10/2025 16:28

I knew a Romy and she always got called “Rome-y” which she hated.

But that's how every Romy I've ever met pronounced her name...?

UnimatrixZeroOne · 15/10/2025 16:39

My mum was Romey. Short for Rosemary. I think it's beautiful.
