Ideally out of the top 150. Not. Finding out the gender.

Already have an Ezra (wasn’t as popular at the time).

So far, I have

Calliope (Callie)
Juniper
Amara
Rosalina
Melody
Juliet (but fine like Jules)
Malin
Arizona (rogue I know, but I just love it)
Theadora (Thea)
Noelle
Celeste
Meredith

Koa
Cassius
Sonny (love, but too popular)
Rowan (same as above)
Marley
Sullivan (Sully)
Casey
Zander
Ari
Remy

I prefer softer sounding, or unisex boy’s names.

I like all of these names, but none feel like the one!

Look at the most unusual names registered in the list that the ONS produces. There’s some surprisingly normal ones there.

I agree re shortening. I’ve just asked my 12 year old Edmund if his name gets shortened now he’s at secondary school. He said people have tried but he shuts them down straight away.

Ignore all the posters taking the piss - Mumsnet is weirdly full of women unaware of the fact that name trends have moved on in the last 40 years.

No idea if they'll be up your street but I love Fergus, Fraser, Ira and Magnus as slightly less common boys names. I'm not great with girls.

I think IRA with Ira.

I think Edith and Edie are due a comeback. Lots of Evies but few Edies.

Setanta
or
Ferdia
if you don’t mind using Irish boys names.

God, there are some 'hilarious' bores on here, coming to judge anyone who has a bit more imagination than calling their child Sophie, Olivia, Oliver or Leo.

How about:

Audrey
Aurelia
Orielle
Aster
Vera
Georgiana
Juno

Magnus
Thorin
Thorne
Elijah

Girls names much easier...

Asta. ( beautiful goddess ).

CosyStork · 30/09/2025 10:48

I like Calliope (Callie) & Noelle.

Do you like Adelaide at all?

Boys, I love most of your names! Koa seems to be on the rise where I am but I do love it. I prefer Cassian to Cassius but like both.

Placestogo · 18/10/2025 08:34

Girl: Louie
Boy: Areski

Placestogo · 18/10/2025 08:58

Some of my boys are friends with boys with uncommon names: Romeo, Octave, Joly (but maybe it is shortened version of a longer name?), Aurel, Arki, Xander, Felix, Phong, Zayaan, Areski, Ewan, Yenjo, Edgar, Omar, Griffin, Simi.

For girls: Xanthe, Aksana, Fiorella, Bouchra, Sandra, Leona

I just love the mix of different culture - it is beautiful 🤩
