Ideally out of the top 150. Not. Finding out the gender.

Already have an Ezra (wasn’t as popular at the time).

So far, I have

Calliope (Callie)
Juniper
Amara
Rosalina
Melody
Juliet (but fine like Jules)
Malin
Arizona (rogue I know, but I just love it)
Theadora (Thea)
Noelle
Celeste
Meredith

Koa
Cassius
Sonny (love, but too popular)
Rowan (same as above)
Marley
Sullivan (Sully)
Casey
Zander
Ari
Remy

I prefer softer sounding, or unisex boy’s names.

I like all of these names, but none feel like the one!

I’m so glad you’ve told me this, I thought I was giving a temporary name to a ferret.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

merryandbrightdelight · 17/09/2025 18:36

I like Otillie although it’s quite popular now. Our two girls have middle names of Eliza and Meadow, dh still hates the latter but my decision 😁

For boys I love Noah, but again very popular! Joseph?

HolyScrolly · 17/09/2025 18:42

@otinata i think Amara is pretty popular now? so so many Xanders now. It’s the new Alex.

Wilder for a boy?
Lowenna, Willow or Willa for a girl?

or full on “out of fashion” names like Ann, Tracy, Sharon, Tiffany, Kimberley

boys.. Bruce, Keith, Alan, Gareth, Douglas

Names I love but had no chance of DH agreeing to include:

Marcus
Torin
Levi
Solomon
Darius

Delphi
Delphine (somehow spoilt by Delphine Donkey in Peppa Pig)
Toria
Natalie (uncommon in young children at least)
Kiki

MagpiePi · 17/09/2025 18:48

Why the obsession with having a name that you hope no other child will have? I quite like it when I meet someone with the same name as me. It’s like a little bond.

hyggetyggedotorg · 17/09/2025 18:50

PS - FWIW, I think wanting a name which is both recognisable as a real name and uncommon enough to avoid having 3 in the class is quite a common request.

It's Theodora, not Theadora. If you wanted Thea you could go for Dorothea.

I like Amara, Melody and Celeste. I prefer Mali (it's Welsh) to Malin, but that's just personal taste. I've also come across a Seraphina, a Gabrielle and a few girls called Anaya, which are all pretty names in my eyes.

The most unusual names that I've come across on boys are Eldon and Hector.

My adult son has a very straightforward name which I've very rarely seen used elsewhere.
Edmund
Isnt it great? You're welcome to use it too.
My daughters have more frequently seen names so I shan't suggest those.

I love the virtue names- Patience. Prudence, Constance, Honor.

I also love very florid Catholic names like Assumpta, Annunciata, Dolores
