Hi everyone
I'm now 25 weeks pregnant with a little girl. We have a 2 year old daughter called Freya and DH and I have become a bit overloaded with names. Love the sound of some names but they are just way too popular such as Olivia, Isla. I want something less common not necessarily unique I've looked at some name lists but need some help with suggestions. Our lists keep changing my DH has happily settled on a couple of names which I've then vetoed probably thanks to my hormones.

At the moment my favourite is Norah but this tends to change quickly. I also like Abigail, Alisha, Sylvie, Heidi, Erin, Niamh and Mara not a definite list so open to other names. Just hoping to see one and think that's the one.

Berenice
Rosamund
Delores
Sinead
Fidelma

You are having a laugh surely?. These are awful names, dont read it OP

DuchessOfNarcissex · 09/09/2025 09:46

I know a Berenice and I quite like it.
Delores looks like a bad spelling of Dolores.
Sinead seems dated.
Fidelma seems a bit like the parents wanted another F name but not one as popular as Freya or Florence.

Other than Sinead and Rosamund they seem like dated religious RC names.

Berenice is related to the name Veronica.

I love Mila or Mira.

Helpmefindmysoul · 09/09/2025 12:45

Norah is cute.

Phoebe and Freya?

Calliopespa · 09/09/2025 17:56

If you like Isla but think it's over-used, what about Ida?

It's quite short and sweet and a bit more unusual.

I too like Nora/Norah and Heidi with Freya.

Agree!

Freya is one of my favourite names.
Prefer Mala over Mara

CaroleLandis · 09/09/2025 18:32

Erin is lovely.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/09/2025 18:34

Please not Norah. Freya is such a pretty name, and Norah really isn’t, it has a totally different vibe. Sylvie or Heidi are gorgeous.

DietQueen2023 · 09/09/2025 18:39

Alisha is my favourite from your list!

Esther?

ScarletWitchM · 09/09/2025 20:52

As Freya is a Norse goddess name I think Astrid would be a lovely name for a sibling

momtoboys · 09/09/2025 20:54

Norah is lovely. I am also fond of Niamh. I would use Maura rather than Norah but Sylvie is pretty too. Congratulations!

mummysmagicmedicine · 09/09/2025 20:59

No I am not having a laugh - these are each deeply rooted historical names with Latin or mythology origins as is Freya. Why would you be so ignorant and offensive?

Blingismything · 10/09/2025 09:03

Katya
Orla
Jemima
Polly
Zara
Lara
Elodie
Betsy

MrsBeltane · 10/09/2025 09:59

Nancy

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 10/09/2025 10:48

Mara has a very negative meaning. I personally wouldn’t use it for that reason.

rainbowstardrops · 10/09/2025 11:00

I don’t like Norah but that’s probably because when I was at school we had Nitty Norah. Basically, a nurse that came into school to check for nits! Showing my age there!

How about
Seren
Eden
Betsy
Poppy
Rosie
Orla
Jasmin
