As we have been having a run on names from the 30s/40s (we do seemed to have skipped the 50s/60s names)is your name now being mentioned in the name list now.

BTW mine isnt but then i@m a 50's kid, but DS a 70's kid has been mentioned recently.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just searched for my name in Baby threads and last year someone said it would be making a comeback!
Poor babies that's all I can say

Another Emma here, and like Tiredemma, I'd have used it for one of my dc, if it hadn't been my name.

Upsidedowncake · 30/05/2008 19:41

Mine is the ultimate comeback name. When I was growing up in the 70s / 80s, I was the only person in my school with my name, now I find threads like:

'Do you think the name Isabella is too fashionable?'

Mind you, my middle name really is out there. I dare anyone to call their daughter 'Wijnanda'.

PuppyMonkey · 30/05/2008 19:44

I have a very weird Irish name which was never in in the first place so is definitely not going to come back...

duchesse · 30/05/2008 19:49

Mine is an old-fashioned & seriously unfashionable back in the late 60s name. Every third kid is now called it, which miffs me a little because I used to feel special as I was the only one of me I ever knew. Mind you, most young things with my name do horrible things to theirs, and make it sound hideous, so it doesn't look like my our name any more.

AbbeyA · 30/05/2008 20:49

I like Emma, it is a name that doesn't date.

Hassled · 30/05/2008 20:52

My name was mentioned quite recently - it was really quite strange seeing my RL name suddenly pop up on MN. Thankfully people seemed to like it - I might have had to have a hissy fit otherwise .

MrsJohnCusack · 30/05/2008 23:32

mine has come back and gone again i think

bluenosesaint · 30/05/2008 23:38

Mines a mid 70's name. Tis very bad (IMO) and not due a revival any time soon i shouldn't think.

Has a nice diminutive though ...

Flibbertyjibbet · 30/05/2008 23:49

1962 here and never mentioned in the comeback threads.
I think names only come back in fashion when all the oldies who had it before have died out.
So give it another 40 years and the threads will be full of 'I want an unusual name, what do you all think of Janet/Tracey/Angela/Tony/Martin'

etc etc

Remotew · 30/05/2008 23:55

1961 and I thought hey a comeback as it was a baby's name on Eastenders, dont think its a trend though. Anyone have a guess .

nancy75 · 30/05/2008 23:59

iwas born in 75 and aparently my name is making a comeback due to oliver twist and david cameron!

cadelaide · 31/05/2008 00:01

I never, ever see my name, and yet in the 70s you were guaranteed at least 2 in every class.

southernbelle77 · 31/05/2008 07:34

I can not see my name coming back in. Not sure it was ever 'in' though tbh! I wouldn't say it was a particularly common or popular name, but it is a name that everyone has heard of.

I just searched the baby names thread and there are no posts about my name!

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 12:38

Janet?

bikerunski · 31/05/2008 13:02

Yes. My name is unusual for someone born in the early 70s but very popular in the under 10s now. I think increasingly so. In fact me and two of my good friends could well be a trendy clique of preschoolers in a "nice" neighbourhood!!! Our names seem to come up on here quite often! 30 years to late, but fashionable at last!

cariboo · 31/05/2008 13:04

Boys get my name more often than girls. It's a greek & russian name beginning with A...

Mamazon · 31/05/2008 13:12

i don't think so.
and gladly so. i hate my name.

Squirdle · 31/05/2008 18:24

I was a 70's baby and called Rebekah (and still am ) There are quite a few Rebeccas now, but Rebekah was very uncommon when I was young. It seems to be more popular now...I prefer it spelt my way.

Squirdle · 31/05/2008 18:25

Meant to say, Rebecca was used quite a lot in the 70's, but not Rebekah....

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 31/05/2008 18:38

I don't think there is much chance of my name being mentioned as my mother made it up!

Although I have googled it and other people with the name do exist.

kayzisexpecting · 31/05/2008 18:41

Mine is an 80's name and it was quite rare for a while but now there are loads of them.

branflake81 · 01/06/2008 19:16

No one had my name but me when I was a child and it was considered really unusual. Now it's v popular and always in the top twenty.
