Please help! Our 3rd baby boy is a week old tomorrow and we still can't decide on a name! We have narrowed it down to;

Huxley nn Huck, Hux, Huckley, Hucky Bear
Forest nn Fox, Rusty, Frosty

Siblings are Orbyn and Archer Last name W
Please be nice 😅

JFC they are terrible, sorry but they really are. Also you can't plan a nickname. I also can't understand giving a kid a name then never calling them that!

BorgQueen · 10/08/2025 13:47

Ooh what a choice.
Huxley Pig or Forest Gump 🙄

Brownieshonour · 10/08/2025 13:47

Huxley as in Huxley Pig???

TheOnlyThing · 10/08/2025 13:48

What about Rover or Scamp? I assume we’re naming a Labrador?

TheBirdintheCave · 10/08/2025 13:48

softlyfallsthesnow · 10/08/2025 09:11

Both are surnames.
There are millions of actual first names to choose from.

This.

TheIceBear · 10/08/2025 14:07

i have to say neither was well. Forest could be nice but forest gump as ruined it really. And Huxley is really American and tacky.

Y2ker · 10/08/2025 14:10

JamDisaster · 10/08/2025 06:33

Run, Forest, run!

Regardless of what nicknames you try to introduce, anyone called Forrest is going to get a LOT of this ^

HelloHattie · 10/08/2025 14:10

Huxley if I really had to buy honestly I’d keep looking.

user1492757084 · 11/08/2025 10:07

I prefer Huxley. I like the meaning.
Orbyn, Archer and Huxley sound good together - like a bunch of Robin Hood's Men from the forest.

I suggest ..
Hugh
Hubert

Elephantangel1991 · 11/08/2025 15:47

Fox is my favourite mentioned (eta I also like Bear). Forest second. Not a fan of Huxley.

Similar ones might be Oakley, Linden, Rowan, River, Wren, Robin

TomatoSandwiches · 11/08/2025 15:50

I know a lovely boy called Fox, so I would vote for that as the main name.

Congratulations

yonem · 11/08/2025 15:52

Both are terrible. Frosty is comically bad.

Why not Aldous if you’re Huxley fans? At least that’s an actual first name.

Terriblytwee · 11/08/2025 16:00

Neither. They are both awful.

Grapewrath · 11/08/2025 17:08

Forest 🌳
I think Journey also goes nice with your other names x

ethelredonagoodday · 11/08/2025 17:16

My kids are teens now, so it’s a while since I looked at names thread, but this one has had me howling. Really sorry OP, but I’m with most posters on here who think they’re not great names. And that you can’t plan nicknames really…

Cocktailsandcheese · 11/08/2025 17:21

Forest is the better of the two I suppose, but not a fan of either of them really

MrsMitford3 · 11/08/2025 17:28

Oh no @Caseyx neither is nice at all.

You are naming a person who not just be a baby (or a dog) but will be a grown up adult-ideally with a job and a life and you are going to name them Forest with the nn of Frosty?
The jokes write themselves to be honest.

Don't try so hard...

ILoveWhales · 11/08/2025 19:47

Like your first two children's names. Not keen on your choices this time.

How about Hudson. It isn't as harsh as Huxley.

DurdleSnore · 12/08/2025 17:38

I think you’ll set him up for teasing with Forest - I can just hear the chants at Sports Day of ‘Run Forest, run’.

I like Fox, Hunter and Bear like has been previously suggested.

Sodastreamin · 12/08/2025 18:04

Huxley is a dog’s name.

Orphlids · 12/08/2025 19:03

I recently met a middle aged palaeontologist named Huxley. I asked about his name and he said his parents were hippies. I thought it was rather brilliant. But I think one of the reasons I liked it was because his name would have been VERY unusual forty odd years ago. I have heard of a few little Huxleys lately and that seems to take the shine off it a bit for me. People choosing something because it’s in fashion, rather than just being delightfully bonkers maybe.

I think the same applies to Forest. It’s pretty trendy.

Out of the two, I think Huxley has the nicer sound. Congratulations on your baby!

softlyfallsthesnow · 12/08/2025 20:42

Sodastreamin · 12/08/2025 18:04

Huxley is a dog’s name.

It's a well established surname with some famous owners eg Aldous, Thomas Henry, Julian, Andrew, Elspeth to name a few in various fields.Trouble is this American thing of using surnames found its way over the Atlantic. They're not always the best at naming their children.

I guess the dog doesn't care though I think I'd still feel daft calling for it to come back.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 12/08/2025 21:14

Of the two options available, I think that I would choose Forest.

sanityisamyth · 12/08/2025 21:26

Neither. They’re awful.
