Please help! Our 3rd baby boy is a week old tomorrow and we still can't decide on a name! We have narrowed it down to;

Huxley nn Huck, Hux, Huckley, Hucky Bear
Forest nn Fox, Rusty, Frosty

Siblings are Orbyn and Archer Last name W
Please be nice 😅

Neither. Both are horrific and the nick names for Forest make no sense. Don’t call your child frosty. Bloody hell.

pinkdelight · 10/08/2025 09:24

Forest (and Hunter) both sound silly with Archer, too much of a theme. Forest Gump is a dreadful connotation too. As is Huxley Pig too but it’s at least more of a name. Out of the two, I’d go Huxley reluctantly.

Moreteaandchocolate · 10/08/2025 09:31

I quite like Huxley. It fits in well with the names of his peers - we know lots of Oakley, Hudson, Ashton etc… and I disagree that he’ll stand out, be teased or seem unusual for having the name Huxley. Also Hux / Huck are great nn’s. (ETA I’ve never heard of Huxley Pig and I doubt his friends will either).

Forest feels more “out there” but I know children called Bear and Fox, so again it probably won’t feel as unusual among his peers.

Fallulah · 10/08/2025 09:31

I’m old enough to remember Huxley Pig and now have the theme tune stuck in my head.

HauntedDreams · 10/08/2025 09:34

Neither.
It just makes me think of Forest Gump & Huxley Pig, that theme tune is not something I’d want sung at my DC in the playground. Kids can be very cruel!

LondonLady1980 · 10/08/2025 09:39

They are both awful.

Huxley is especially, especially bad.

No child should have Rusty or Frosty as a nickname either. Not ever.

SlenderRations · 10/08/2025 09:46

Well, neither is a name

Blarn · 10/08/2025 09:52

Huxley is actually quite hard to say. Could just be me! The x into l sound just caters in the throat.

Out of both of them, Forest. But surely nicknames just evolve naturally, they aren't planned. It's cringy, like Anthony Scarramucci giving himself The Mooch as a nickname.

TheMAFSfan · 10/08/2025 12:47

Huxley = Huxley pig just like Roland = Roland Rat

Yeah because what would they call their snowman this winter?

OldBeyondMyYears · 10/08/2025 13:12

Any ‘best name’ post that end with ‘please be nice’ is guaranteed to be suggesting ridiculous names for their child! 🙄

As others have said OP…you are naming a human, not a dog.

Also, ‘Frosty’ as a nickname!! Are you actually serious?? 🤣🤣

HostaCentral · 10/08/2025 13:13

Unless you are in America....or American, none of them. Sorry.

OldBeyondMyYears · 10/08/2025 13:14

UnderCoverB0ss · 10/08/2025 09:07

My BIL dog is called Huxley and my son’s dog is called Forest. I think they’re great names.

Yes…for dogs!

JMSA · 10/08/2025 13:15

Oh no! Sorry.

Purplecatshopaholic · 10/08/2025 13:18

Oh op. Gently, in case you are serious, your child has to live his life with this you know. Forest is terrible and even worse if you also have Archer (although I like their schnapps). So at a push I’d go with Huxley.

Lottapianos · 10/08/2025 13:26

Sorry OP, I have to say I think both are awful. A lot of people will find them ridiculous, as you can see. I get where the nicknames are coming from, but agree with @Blarn that planning nicknames is a bit odd

Me too...

Stichintime · 10/08/2025 13:31

I prefer John.

JMSA · 10/08/2025 13:33

I’m not mad on this name either, but it’s similar to - and a bit better than - the other names. What about Hudson?

crumblingschools · 10/08/2025 13:35

Thought you were naming dogs

MagnificentBastard · 10/08/2025 13:39

😂 Neither. Both completely twatty.

Snorlaxo · 10/08/2025 13:42

I have teens/young adults. They haven’t watched the movie Forest Gump but they know bit “Run Forest, run!” which your son will face whether he’s fast or slow at running.

Huxley isn’t great either but apart from Huxley Bear which his classmates won’t know, I’d try and find a different nature name.

The nicknames mainly don’t fit the actual name so have you thought about using the ones that fit as his actual name? Eg Fox

AlwaysFreezing · 10/08/2025 13:42

Both are fine names. Clearly not to everyone else's taste, but if we all liked the same things life would be boring.

I prefer Forest of the two, but both are lovely!

Emanwenym · 10/08/2025 13:45

Both pretty bad. If I had to choose, Huxley, which is fine as a surname.

Just Fox is OK.

Your taste in names is quite different to mine.

crumblingschools · 10/08/2025 13:46

@Caseyx do you have unusual names or just your children?
