In desperate need of name ideas!

Hiya,
I’m currently pregnant and due to give birth any day to a little girl and we have no name ideas!
This baby is very much wanted and after many losses and rounds of IVF I am so thankful I’m at this point in my pregnancy. However, my pregnancy has been quite stressful and so we haven’t had time to debate names and now her arrival is so close we have realised we need to get some ideas.
We like traditional names (I think) and the middle name will be Elizabeth xx

Love the name Elizabeth, I was hoping one or both my twins were girls, as I had put a lot of thought into girl names.
I had two boys.
The girl names I choose were
Heather
Georgia
Atlanta
and
Athena
congratulations on your forthcoming birth, be warned you may possibly have a complete change of mind, when you have her in your arms.
My chosen boys names never materialised, went for completely different ones, after their birth!.

Names we had for our daughter

Anna
Anastasia
Peyton
Niamh
Blake
Emily
Elise
Maria
Charlotte
Grace

There was more but can’t remember them off the top of my head.

My daughter is Erin Elizabeth, my friend has Charlotte Elizabeth. It's a beautiful, timeless name x

Themaghag · 23/07/2025 22:44

The name we had chosen for our second child. Was Anna Elizabeth, but he was a boy! I still love it though!

whendoIgetabreak · 23/07/2025 22:59

Our daughter’s middle name is also Elizabeth, her full name is Kitty Elizabeth. Our final two options were Kitty Elizabeth or Molly Elizabeth but decided when she came out Kitty was more suited.

But also had;
Emma
Charlotte
Beatrix
Olivia

We liked Elsbeth as its Scottish for Elizabeth but ultimately decided on Elizabeth.

We didn’t want our daughters name to be shortened so some of the other suggestions (Charlotte and other names were taken out)
We also did this for our son too. Traditional name that can’t be shortened.

LucasBuck · 24/07/2025 01:12

I assume Elizabeth is after a relative and so can’t be the first name? As it really is the ultimate, timeless name choice for a girl if you like the classics (I do too!). Otherwise I think you can’t go wrong with many traditional names and luckily almost every girls name sounds good with Elizabeth. This list is some of my faves, all taken from Austen or other very classic authors like Hardy, Dickens, the Brontës etc (Austen in particular had a great eye for a classic name, Fanny excepted!):

Julia
Anna
Rose/Rosa
Laura
Sarah/Sara
Caroline
Charlotte
Catherine
Emma
Alice
Emily
Eleanor
Diana
Maria/Mary
Helena
Louisa
Lydia
Beatrice
Juliet
Marina
Lara
Susanna
Cecilia
Claudia
Antonia
Jane
Philippa
Clara
Teresa
Sophie
Josephine

Congratulations! I am also a mum to an IVF miracle and found naming my son so difficult- he didn't have a name until I was giving birth.
If we had had a daughter, he would have been either Annabelle, Phoebe, Isla or Caitlin. However, I also loved Faith, Joy, Beatrix, Constance, Lois, Alice, Annie, Kitty, Abigail...
Your baby will find the right name, please do not worry. Just enjoy these last few days of pregnancy and the beautiful miracle that will soon be laid in your arms. Xxx

Dollita · 24/07/2025 06:35

Congratulations! I was interested to see Josephine on a couple of lists, it's my daughter's name but isn't very common this generation. I still love it, she's known as Josie mainly, sometimes Jo.

HonestBrickViewer · 24/07/2025 06:42

Ahh congrats, how exciting — and after everything you’ve been through, it must feel so special ❤️

Elizabeth is such a lovely middle name. If you like traditional names, how about:
Alice, Rose, Clara, Sophie, Anna, Grace, or Eleanor?

Wishing you all the best for the birth — not long now!

I think Abigail is such a pretty name but it will likely be shortened to Abi -

if my son had been a girl he was going to be Ella Elizabeth

StarlightBlues · 24/07/2025 11:53

I would say Beatrice out of your choices. Congratulations!

Fartughtyred · 24/07/2025 13:46

Rose would probably be my choice, or perhaps you could call her Rosanna
