Help!! I cannot name my son!!

I’m having an awful time trying to choose my son’s name (he’s here already). In my list are Rowan, Roman, Rhys/Reece, Rian, Reagan, Mason, Jayden, Jamie and Corey. Problem is right now he suits Corey, but I’m also aware he won’t look cute forever and am conscious of choosing a strong name that will see him through his later years, which my daughters will. With a boy, I feel like I want his name to portray strength, handsome & cool, which is asking a lot. From searches I’ve realised I’m more drawn to soft names and gender neutral names for boys.

I’d love something unusual like my daughter’s name but with boys I just can’t seem to find that. As my daughter’s name is 3 syllables, I’d ideally like at least 2 or long sounding name eg Rhys.

can anyone share their thoughts on my list and perhaps share any other names they think I might love….

boys names are harrrrrrddddd!

Aww it's sad that you don't like your name.
We are from SW England. His full name is Rowan Daniel. I also have Callum Mark( after his Dad) and Lucas Adam.
Im sure his name will come to you in a flash and then he will just be your Rowan(?)

@Needmorelego isn’t it 🥴 I never even thought of the names I liked being ‘chavvy’….now I’m wondering, am I, without realising I am. I suppose it means something different to everyone. However to me, it’s a negative association and not a nice association for someone to have of the name you’ve chosen for one of the loves of your life 😭

They’re not chavvy at all!

I don’t think any of your names sound strong, how about something like Joseph which he can shorten when he grows up? Or if you like Jamie, how about James and they he could use Jamie affectionately or Jay which is similar to your Jayden or James formally? I also know a Joseph called Jay but I don’t like Jayden for a grown man.

Needmorelego · 04/06/2025 09:55

@Flashahah that's the thing - "chavvy" means different things to different people.
I have seen names like Oliver or Annabel described as "chavvy".
@Maero if YOU like a name don't give a thought to what others think.

I have a Nephew called Jamie, James on his BC ignore any comments on your names
Your son, your choice.

I am not so keen on Jayden either, Corey and Roman are nice. I have two sons called Tobie and Oliver. Both pretty strong names and Tobie being slightly unusual due to the spelling. It is an individual choice and totally up to you!

BuntyBeaufort · 04/06/2025 14:15

I don’t think they’re chavvy either, except for Jayden, and Roman is faddy and will soon date. From your list I like Cady too, and particularly like a pp suggestion of Owen.

Bownessbay · 04/06/2025 14:20

Would Jonah or Louis work as softer male names? Or Adam or Harry? Rowan is lovely though as are Rhys and Roman.

Pinty · 04/06/2025 14:24

Rowan is my favourite, or maybe Reece, i'm not keen on the others

Smelltherain · 04/06/2025 14:34

Corey is fine , is sweet , cool and masculine. I can see a grown up cool handsome guy being called Corey. Also Jamie is a good strong name to fit any age. Or James , nick name Jamie. Jacob or Jake is nice. Not overly keen on the others very common
