Help please
i’m in tears every day about this but he has no name. Im desperate to settle but i cannot find a name we like.

We have 100 girl names but nothing for a boy.

we do not like “traditional common” names such as Chris, Tom, Harry, Nick, Ben.

we do not like names like Otto, Otis, Arlo.

we have a little girl called Aria (was not popular when we chose it) if this little one was a girl he would have been Otillie or Delilah.

we liked Jude but I’ve now met so so many baby Jude’s I just feel lost….

we quite liked Ellis but DH thinks it’s girly sounding. Also quite liked Dylan and Quin for a while but now it sounds so…. Over used?

Calliopespa · 17/05/2025 20:47

You can spell it Canute if that helps?

I would ho with Dylan, it has a really friendly and kind feel to it, and I haven't come across any little Dylan's personally, it's definitely not popular in my area (Aria is though)

@armt

If you like Jude but think it's too popular now, how about Judah?

I think Asher is nice too, but that might be becoming quite popular:

Other suggestions:

Julian
Lucas
Robin
Edmund
Peter (too traditional maybe?)
Scott
Maurice
Gawain
Gareth
Tristan
Victor
Kay
Francis
Kieran

Love the name Jude so, so much, but do understand it’s more popular. What about Kit or Robin for other more unisex, short names for boys?

heffalumpwoozle · 22/05/2025 07:07

I don't think Quinn and Dylan are overused at all. I don't meet many of them. I think you are worrying a lot about using a name that is common/ popular - you should just go with what you like.

Calliopespa · 22/05/2025 07:14

whats-a-happenin op?

Has baby got a name yet?

CanIHaveALattePlease · 22/05/2025 07:28

I know so many Dylans, it’s crazy popular.
Quinn sounds more girly to me than Ellis (which is a fab name)

Austin
Greyson
Cosmo

The reason people think Ellis sounds girly is because when it is spoken it is indistinguishable from Alice.

I think the DH has a fair point there.

@op What have you decided?
