Sister for Chester?

Just that really! We are after a girl name to go with big brother Chester.

I’m not a fan of really girly names like flower names etc, or the popular, older names like Margot, Florence, Elsie (Old lady names as DH says!), we can’t have anything ending in the a sound (Olivia, Ava, etc.), purely because of our accent! Our surname also counts out anything beginning with L.

Any ideas!?

Chester is not at all popular in the current generation of grandparents in the UK. Or, as far as I can tell, in the generation prior to that (born in 20s/30s).

Whereas it's been a top 100 name since 2019. Loads of little Chesters. It's got a more modern/trendy vibe to me.

Chester is a name from the 1880s to 1920s. It's the epitome of Old Man names. You could not pick a more Old Man name if you tried.

But they are part of the fashion for old lady and old man names. These are names that were unheard of from the 1940s to the 2010s but were popular in the last decade or two of the 19th century and up to about the 1940s. They are the names of current generations' grand parents, great grandparents, and g-g- grandparents.

Old Man names go with old lady names, like:

Beatrice

Cora
Ivy
and many, many more.

Names like Scarlett, Zara, Mila, Sienna, etc, while popular these days, were unheard of back when 90+ year old Chesters and Stanleys and Arthurs were schoolboys. They are modern names.

Doesn't Chester end in an A sound? Maybe not in a west country accent but to me it rhymes with the name Nesta.

We very much pronounce their er sound at the end. Like all things baby names though, it can be entirely regional
