What's your immediate thoughts of the name Dacre? ( Pronounced Day-ker) Think it's lovely for a little boy but partner not convinced.

OP, this is a terrible name. It strikes me that you're just trying too hard to be different! There are so many lovely names out there, throw this one back into the pond and pick another!

The poor child will spend the next 80-90 years of their life "saying yes, pronounced like acre with a d" multiple times a week.

I'm one of the few saying yes. I remember a girl at school had a brother called Dacre. There was a place by the same name. I don't like it but I at least recognise it as a name.

If it’s after the Stranger Things actor then I would argue that his career hasn’t taken off enough for people to know how to pronounce it.

It's an old family name for me. Why shouldn't it could come back? I never thought Reggie or Ivy would happen, but here we are.

I like it! I like the pronunciation of it but not the spelling of it. Could you spell it the way you pronounce ie Dayker?

It's already an unusual spelling and it limits the issue with questionable pronunciation.

I’d say it as Dak-Ray which i actually think is nicer than Day-Ker which will sound like day care. They’ll have a life time of correcting people and spelling it out.
