Maybe they are thinking Joo-de?

Joel definitely has two syllables in Norfolk as well - although a certain Mr A Partridge did describe Norfolk as 'the Wales of the east', so maybe that's to be expected!

DDad had an American* colleague called Graham, who pronounced his name "Gramme", which does make it 1 syllable for some people.

*Probably Texan.

Finn is a very old, stand-alone name. It’s Irish. It’s not short for Finlay.
