I like Ellis or Aidan the most, possibly Ellis to if I had to pick but nothing wrong with any of them! Rhys has more than one spelling which can be annoying, and there are lots of Alfies at the moment😊

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 05/04/2025 20:06

Rhys or Alfie with Joshua as middle name

Differentstarts · 05/04/2025 20:11

I like them all but Ellis is my favourite

BoleynMemories13 · 05/04/2025 20:16

Rhys is my favourite. I'm not a massive fan of ie short forms in general, but Alfie is one I don't mind. I know some lovely Alfies and it's nowhere near as popular now as it was in the 00s.

The other two aren't for me, although I do like the similar Elliot and Hayden.

Alfie

I really like Ellis.
Ellis Joshua is a very fine name.

spiderlight · 05/04/2025 20:49

I like Aidan and Ellis best.

Nevertrustacop · 05/04/2025 20:53

Ellis Peter

GoatCatTaco · 05/04/2025 20:59

Aiden Peter from your list.

But what about Peter Joshua?

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 05/04/2025 21:23

Ellis - Ellis Peter

There have been SO many Alfies it needs a rest, although it’s nice. I do think it’s better short for Alfred though.

Aidan is alright but a bit 90s footballer

Rhys always makes me think of grease and will he misspelt a lot

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/04/2025 22:01

Ellis

Rainingalldayonmyhead · 05/04/2025 22:08

Without a doubt Aidan

BootballJoy · 05/04/2025 22:10

Aidan Peter

Teado · 05/04/2025 22:10

Rhys is my favourite but I like them all! Not much help….

PickledElectricity · 05/04/2025 22:11

Aidan

Gundogday · 05/04/2025 22:12

Ellis - quite like
Aidan - okay
Rhys - really like, Welsh spelling, Alternative spelling is Reece
Alfie - okay

Moreteaandchocolate · 05/04/2025 22:16

All are nice names - I particularly like Rhys, Ellis and Aidan - I’d probably choose Rhys - simple, handsome and not dated or overused. Rhys Joshua is lovely 😊

SauvignonBlonk · 05/04/2025 22:18

Aidan Joshua - will be AJ

timeforhols · 05/04/2025 22:26

Ellis is one of my favourite boys names, we would definitely have used it if didn’t sound weird with our surname.

Strangely Aidan is one of my least liked names, I’m not even sure why I don’t like it. Ditto Hayden pp has suggested.

Of the other two, Rhys is much more interesting than Alfie

Sassybooklover · 05/04/2025 22:27

Aidan is probably my favourite. Alfie is a really popular name, and I can guarantee there will be at least one other in his class at school, and several in his year group!

Scutterbug · 05/04/2025 22:30

i only like Alfie with Joshua as a middle name.

Maxorias · 05/04/2025 22:38

I like Aidan best from your list. Also Aiden, Hayden and Hadrian.

Aidan Joshua - will be AJ

I hadn’t thought of this! That is quite cool

As lot of people have said this about Alfie but I have never met one! I wonder if it’s quite a localised thing. We’re in the North so I wonder if there’s much variation
