Beautiful name. I adore a biblical name.

Ddakji · 20/03/2025 18:53

I’ve never been keen on this name. Just a bit meh.

Whatwouldnanado · 20/03/2025 18:54

Just go for Zack. If you must. He will be called this anyway. Life’s too short.

HereintheloveofChristIstand · 20/03/2025 18:56

I love it.

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 20/03/2025 18:57

Makes me think of a religious cult member

PandaG · 20/03/2025 18:59

Personally love it, I like slightly unusual Biblical names, but am also reminded of the YA fiction 'Z for Zachariah'

Gemini29 · 20/03/2025 19:00

Cute!

PandaG · 20/03/2025 19:01

But I prefer Zach, Zac or Zak as the spelling of the shortening. I know several Zachs, mostly Zachary but none are shortened to Zack. But your child, your choice!

ThePussy · 20/03/2025 19:03

Poor little fucker having to spell that at school. Jim and Fred will be halfway through playtime by the time he’s finished.

I didn’t give the spelling of Zack much thought when I wrote it, they’re all said the same !!!

It’s not personally a name I like but I like these types of names and think you should go for it.

I think it’s good when names give a reasonable shortening that could be used as a standalone throughout life if the child wants, especially when it results in one well-known option and one underused option like this.

sansalab · 20/03/2025 19:07

Zach is nice but a bit much the whole name

Its the same amount of letters as Stephanie and only one more than Jennifer off the top of my head and those kids all managed fine.

OP can always teach him to be smart about it and go Z-A-K when he’s rushing out to playtime and the full shebang when it’s eating into Maths time.

Bluelavenders · 20/03/2025 19:24

It’s too religious and flowery. You find it feminine sounding

Stayathomemum102 · 20/03/2025 19:26

Question:

Do people prefer Zachary over Zachariah?

OP posts:
Growsomeballswoman · 20/03/2025 19:31

I love biblical names. It’s great

Carouselfish · 20/03/2025 19:35

I dislike spelling of Zac as too much like French sac (bag) but also very testicular!

AtrociousCircumstance · 20/03/2025 19:37

I prefer Zachary.

FlorrieStockton · 20/03/2025 19:38

I love it but I really like Biblical names.

SeaDragon17 · 20/03/2025 19:39

Much prefer Zachary. It’s a stronger sounding name and without the religious / cult-like overtones.

DramaAlpaca · 20/03/2025 19:40

Zachariah is too religious sounding for me, and too long. Zachary is nicer.

I like Zac, but then I've always preferred short, neat names.

Snorlaxo · 20/03/2025 19:41

Zach (or one of the many spellings ) is a great name but Zachariah is a bit long for my liking and I would prefer Zachary. Zac on it’s own is good imo

Gettingbysomehow · 20/03/2025 19:43

I can't stand all these long biblical names personally, there are so many Noahs, Elijas and Zachariahs out there, it's all a bit passe now in my opinion.

shoopshoopdedoo · 20/03/2025 19:45

I really like Zachary/Zach

CruCru · 20/03/2025 19:51

I’m not super keen, mainly because a boy I knew called Zachary / Zack went to the Steiner school. But that is my issue, not yours.
