Hi! Opinions are greatly appreciated

Not a name I would pick but don't hate it, I would imagine the person was born at Christmas.

Viviennemary · 05/04/2025 22:29

Not keen. It's boring and dated. But it's a perfectly acceptable name if you like it.

NotMeekNotObedient · 05/04/2025 22:46

I like it. It's pretty and sweet without being babyish.

I think it's definitely an early 90's name but I think it's due for a revival.

Contentment1628 · 05/04/2025 22:55

I like it. Much better than the multitude of chav names that are so prevalent nowadays.

MaryGreenhill · 05/04/2025 23:03

It’s a girl dogs name! I’ve randomly known 4 holly dogs..

RuthTopp · 06/04/2025 07:55

It's a lovely name , but I'd only use it if born in December . It's the same for the May June name as well only in those months .

jasminnie · 30/05/2025 15:20

It’s boring to me

KayEmAy · 03/06/2025 20:41

It's not that I dislike it I just think Olly (Olive/Hollis) is cuter and it's right there

alis20 · 05/10/2025 13:29

My 12mo is Hollie. We love it.

deeahgwitch · 05/10/2025 14:36

If my last baby was a girl it would have been called Holly.

StrugglingwithIvanhoe · 05/10/2025 15:26

Love it, also Hazel and Rue.

ladygindiva · 05/10/2025 15:27

Love it. Couldn't use it for mine as a best friend used it but would have considered it otherwise. A timeless nature name and a classic.

AgnesMcDoo · 05/10/2025 15:39

Lovely

Peoplepleaserincrisis · 05/10/2025 15:43

I like it. Also I work in a school and have never had a Holly in the last 10 + years so would find it an interesting change!

EeyoresLostTail · 05/10/2025 15:46

Nice enough - a friendly, pleasant sounding name. It wouldn’t be my own preference - I prefer more classic, elegant sounding names. And for some reason (despite the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s) I can’t really imagine it on a woman much older than her 40’s, unlike say similar Hazel or Molly.

But Holly is certainly not the sort of name that would do your daughter a disservice - I think it’s stayed fairly popular over the last 40 years for a reason (it’s friendly sound).

Yes, I agree with friendly and pleasant -sounding, but, perhaps because of that, it makes me think of a sweet, homely type and not a high-flyer.

Nothing wrong with that, but I just think there might be some paths in life where it seems a bit soft and sappy. There are other feminine names that still have more elegance and gravitas.

But that's since you asked.

It's quite a nice name on the whole.

chattyness · 06/10/2025 23:08

I love it, it's my eldest granddaughters name, she wasn't a Christmas baby

JillyGiraffe · 07/10/2025 03:27

Go for it!

GerundTheBehemoth · 07/10/2025 03:47

I like it. I only know two - one is 13 years old and the other 6 months. Both are cats.

Firebird83 · 08/10/2025 19:56

It feels a bit 90s. It’s ok though.

1000DayChallenge · 10/10/2025 00:16

My best friends daughter is Holly. She was born in March
