Greek boys name (we're not Greek)

Would love suggestions of Greek boys names that don't sound too out there if we're not Greek - we love many Greek names but feel they all sound a bit odd with the cultural connection...

So, when someone realises it's a Greek name and you're not Greek.....

Why a Greek name if you have no cultural connection?

Also Alexandros

Pyjamatimenow · 10/02/2025 18:52

Large Greek family -men are call Alexandros/ Alexander/ Alecos, Spiro, Paniotis, Christos, Nico/ Nicos and Vasillis. The only one I like is the Alex variations really

Pyjamatimenow · 10/02/2025 18:53

Oh yes we’ve got two Andreas’ -that’s quite nice but in this country probably would sound like Andrea

Dillydollydingdong · 10/02/2025 18:57

A lot of the names being suggested are ridiculous - Pyrros, Vasilis, Dimos??? Poor kid!

bellocchild · 10/02/2025 18:58

Lysander?

Topseyt123 · 10/02/2025 18:59

Both my kids names are Greek - both first and middle. I just liked them without realising they were Greek. Think along the lines of Alexander. Many names are Greek.

My partner and I are total globetrotters anyway with very different cultural backgrounds and are both mixed ethnicity. The idea that names belong to a particular place or group of people is outmoded to me. I guess for someone whose parents are English who has always lived in England this might feel different. But the world is far more diverse than even 20 years ago.
