Classic girl names

We are struggling to decide on a name for our girl.

Shortlisted are:

Elizabeth
Grace
Katherine
Rosemary (less sure on this one)

We have a single syllable last name so thinking Grace might not work. We also like names that can be shortened easily to nice nicknames.

What does everyone think of the above and any other similar suggestions? Ruled out Charlotte, Victoria and Emma due to names in close family.

My favourites are Blythe, Julia and Vivienne.

bakewellbride · 28/01/2025 21:37

They are nice! Also how about
Alice
Isabella / Isabelle
Sophie

fortheloveofcollies · 28/01/2025 21:40

Not keen on Blythe or Vivienne but Julia is a potential.

Sophie is nice. We have an Alice and Isabelle in the family which rules those out

I'm not so keen on Grace (and prefer the spelling Catherine to Katherine) but otherwise find them fine.

As an alternative, how about Louisa? (with nickname Lu or Lulu)

Edited

We've gone back and forth on the spelling on Katherine/Catherine. I like both. But one thing that puts me off is they will constantly have to say how to spell their name.

Louisa is nice but not sure I like the nn Lou

If looking for a "classic" feeling name looking up popular names in the Tudor period is a good place to start! Also characters from Austen

Beautifulsunflowers · 28/01/2025 21:52

Katherine is by far the nicest of your choices in my opinion and I also think it has the best shortening potentials too.
I think spelt with a K leads itself nicely to Kate or Katie
Spelt with a C more Cat as a nn
